The circus last night was So. Much. Fun. NikkiZ was a little overwhelmed, but mainly because it started at 7pm and that’s her bedtime. She got a little nervous about the trapeze artists as she seems to have an inherent fear of heights. She would actually cover her eyes. But she was amazed by the whole event. The clowns didn’t phase her much, but they look a lot less freaky than they did when I was a kid. They look more like characters on TV I guess, it’s hard to explain.
Now - the elephants? Were her favorite. Every time they left, she would say “Bye!” to them and then wonder when they were coming back. She also liked the Zebras. The most awesome thing was that LilZ, MrZ and I were all just as impressed with it. We all had fun, and honestly? That’s rare. Usually one of us is kinda miserable at these events (MrZ) but we all were pointing and laughing and OOoooo’ing and AAAaaaahhh’ing all night long. It was awesome.
BUT - Since we’re all usually in bed by 8pm (I get up at 4am, give me a break) getting home at 9:30pm threw us for a loop. I’m really tired today, and I even slept in until…wait for it…5:20am! Can you believe it?
So…Circus? Awesome in every way. Being tired? Still sucks donkey balls.

We went to the circus not too long ago and it was SO loud. The music, the ringmaster…deafening. And, my son who wakes up if I so much as step into his room, fell asleep at that circus. Go figure!
I had a feeling she would be a brave girl
No matter how long I read this blog, I will never get over you and your early morning ways.
Glad you all had a good time!
It is great that you all enjoyed it so much.
Is the late start this morning going to throw you off? I’m usually out of sorts when my morning schedule/routine is disrupted.
I hope resting is the only thing on your to-do list this weekend.
I’m so glad you all had fun! Being tired really is the pits, though. I was so tired when I got home from Uni yesterday, I crashed and just woke up now - six a.m. Which is *very* early for me!
Lilz goes to bed at 8? Is he some alien teenager?
I always wanted to do the circus thing, but the family being allergic to, oh, everything, kind of hinders it, I think. We get anyone in the vague vicinity of animals or fun, we start dying. But rest assured, it doesn’t hinder my ability to threaten my son (who is also afraid of heights) to send him off to ‘trapeze school’ for my own personal amusement.
awww that is sweet. I am glad the clowns didn’t frighten her!!
it is a good tired right?
I’m so glad you all had a good time! There’s some great family memories there you’ll all have for the rest of your lives!
I just saw an adorable new drawing of an elephant on my friend’s art website and immediately thought of NikkiZ at the circus. I’m so glad it was such a successful night!
You’ve inspired me to maybe face my fears and go to the circus. It sounds great, and my 6 year old would love it.
That’s awesome you guys all had a good time. My 10 month old has been mesmerized by the circus commercials that have recently been showing up on our tv.
also I was thinking. didn’t nikkiZ ever watch Joe Joe’s Circus on Noggin?
