We can’t even fit a tree topper on this baby

My Living Room

I told Reed the other day that I was having a tree topper dilemma. See? I now have a 9ft tree to match my 9ft ceilings. This means my most dearest Christmas possession, my snowman shaped tree topper, will not fit on the tree! The tree is fantastic and pre-lit and we’re totally in love with it. Even without the tree topper. It’s the perfect addition to our home the first year the four of us celebrate Christmas together. (LilZ’s Dad has had him the last two Christmas days.) I can not wait.

I think it looks beautiful. Even without your topper.

What a beautiful tree! And how wonderful that you’ll all be able to celebrate Christmas together, especially since it’s probably the first year NikkiZ will be able to fully appreciate it.

  3. Gigi says:

Wait, did Santa already come? That’s the biggest basket of toys ever.

Could there be ANYTHING left for NikkiZ to get for Christmas???

  4. Lisa says:

Not to get all sacriligious, but just like with a fresh tree, you can trim a fake tree to fit your space. As long as the lights are movable, so that you don’t snip through any wires.

Ooh, it’s so dreamy and festive! We’ve been moving around (to different countries, so taking the decorations? not an option) so much, I’ve never been able to get together a collection of winter decorations.

Also, it’s no snowman, but that big bow on top of the tree looks very lovely.

  6. Frema says:

LOVE your tree. Luke and I have a small one that sits on top of one of our end tables. Once we’re in a house, we’ll get one of normal height, but until then, I’m left to drool over everyone else’s!

oh, i’m so glad you’re going to have lilz this year. i remember reading your post last christmas–i hadn’t been reading your site for very long, but i really felt sad for you.
hooray for a happier time this year!

It’s absolutely beautiful. I like the tree topper on the side. It will get more attention this year.

  9. Katy says:

Well, like you said. Even though the topper won’t fit on top, the tree is gorgeous. I’ve been asking my partner to get the decorations out for FOUR days and they still haven’t come out of the cupboard.

  10. Stacey says:

I think we actually have the same tree topper if I remember correctly and since ours is too heavy for the fake tree that we have? It rests near the top but still has the same affect as being on the top. Kinda like where the ribbon is on yours right now. :)

  11. Dirka says:

That tree is beautiful! We’re going with the REAL tree this year. Which means lots of dead needles littering the floor to go along with the “fresh tree scent”!

  12. Cindy says:

    Your tree is beautiful!!

  13. valeta says:

    I love your tree.

I love snowmen decorations, but I have never actually built one. I grew up in Arizona and now live near San Jose, CA. No snow for me.

My son will be with his dad this christmas. :(

  14. Reed says:

That is a massive tree. By the way, I’m still going topperless.

  15. Becky says:

I’ve been topperless forever. Not because I dislike toppers, but because I cannot find one that I actually like. Any suggestions?

  16. Jenny H. says:

Well? Is there gonna be a topper?

  17. rsm says:

Her dress is awesome, your tree is awesome. Nice work. And dude, you MUST share with me the secret to your MVP thing – that’s the cutest sidebar feature ever!

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
