I remember the days before Google as well. Although, I wasn’t smart enough to have called Blockbuster with all of my questions.
-
I think this is my favorite of the “Why We Write” series so far. Best line? “The Kids Who Played With Magic used to beat the crap out of me.”
-
I don’t know if I use many of these – but it’s handy to know that some would rather I not.

I’ve heard of stories like this even around here. It makes me paranoid to take pictures anywhere anymore.

“It is a call for the media to start issuing a thesaurus to everyone in front of a camera,” a contributor said.
That’s my favorite part of the Wordsmith article. Perhaps an anchor in my city would rather have a thesaurus than the arrest warrant she was served the other week.
Like Jp said – great quote! Seriously, you have the best articles and such
I love the words to avoid article. I read it yesterday (I cannot believe I found a cool link without your help) and was pleased to note, that since I make up many of the words I use and misspell the rest of them, I have avoided these pitfalls.
Yay for avoidance!
That last one is scary. I’m very self concious when I carry my camera.
I’m having to log every single thing I do today to justify a raise I’m getting. I just wrote, on my log sheet, “Spent 10 minutes wiggling inappropriately in my chair because Zoot linked me”.
Yep. That raise is as good as mine.
I can’t believe they got banned from a shopping centre for taking PHOTOS. How is that a terrorism? Thats really pathetic. Do these security guards have nothing else better to do?
