Excessive hugging

He's Born to be a Big Brother
NikkiZ: KISS! KISS! Scout: You’re in my personal space. Back off, kid.

At the New Year’s party I mentioned, Steve and Ronda’s daughter Scout charmed the socks off both of my children. LilZ had loads of fun playing with her (Jeez - that kid should have like 10 siblings by now he’s so good with kids) and NikkiZ would not stop kissing the poor child.

MrZ takes and picks up NikkiZ from daycare since it is closer to his office than mine, and he sometimes mentions that NikkiZ must first give certain children (one boy in particular) hugs before she leaves. We talk about how cute it is, but after seeing her chasing after Scout all night for affection, and seeing poor Scout do everything possible to get a break already from the love, I’m wondering if maybe my daughter is annoying other children with her excessive hugging. Is she chasing every child around all day looking for affection? Or does she have her favorites she likes to stalk and does she focus entirely on hugging them to death every day? And most importantly…Why in the Hell do WE not see affection of that level from her? We feed the damn kid, you know. If anyone is getting assaulted with her hugs, it should be us.

Eat some of this plastic tart, Scout. It may make you sleepy, but you’ll be nice and comfortable back in my lair where I can keep you all to myself.

Come on, people - say it with me: “Awww!” I’m taking it as a good sign that she’ll be an awesome, loving, attentive older sibling. Hmm… wonder where she learned THAT from? Two sweet, loving kids? You’re obviously doing things right!

awww that is just too sweet!! ya know she will be doing good with new one! I bet it will be her “baby” in no time!

Echo! I think she is just showing you that she is ready to be a big sister.

Or perhaps, she just gets excited when she sees people closer to her in size.

  4. Becky Says:

Awww. Sounds like she’s going to love being a big sister.

Have you guys told her yet?

    Those are the sweetest pictures!

Hee. She’s going to be a great big sister. Maybe she finds it easier to love all over somebody her own size (or smaller)?

Wow, I feel like my child was just on the tonight show of the blog world or maybe the Ophra Winfrey show of the blog world. My Scout, a blog star in the making….

when i was in 2nd grade, i used to chase this boy around the playground and try to hug him…but that’s a bit different, i suppose. and, yes, i am still embarrassed about it.

Awww, she’s precious! (They both are.) How awesome that LilZ loves kids so much! My oldest son really loves/is great with kids, but my youngest son…he’s good with them, too….for a short while, then he’s ready to let someone else play with or watch them.

  14. Heather Says:

Oh, yeah, does she know about AndyZ? She’s going to make an awesome big sister! Your kids rock so hard ;-)

  15. Steph Says:

Atleast she is being annoying by being sweet (if she is annoying at all). My nephew is that kid who gets in all the other kids faces and pesters them. I sadly realized this at the mall play area.

  16. Dirka Says:

She’s going to be a GREAT big sister!

  17. Katy Says:

Well, its better than her hitting all the other kids isn’t it?
