If you’ll recall, many moons ago I vowed to keep up with my e-mail. I have long since failed at that vow. I think I stuck to it for about three hours. Or maybe four. It wasn’t that long. However, I finally achieved the impossible last night…I emptied my inbox.
Of course - this was necessary as I realized this week that I am still having problems after accidentally spamming my entire inbox one day last summer. See, Gmail is smart, if you spam something, it remembers it. It took me several days to realize I was not getting emails and even longer to figure out why. When I had tried to archive a bunch of mail using the “check all” function, I accidentally spammed it. So, if you sent me an email or made a comment on my blog for that month prior, your email address was flagged as spam in my account. And sometimes, it still flags comments in general since I spammed so many that day. Gmail is still very suspicious about my blog URL.
I thought I had fixed most of those issues, but I found out yesterday some were still flagged as spam from that fateful day. So, I decided I needed to clean out my inbox PRONTO so that I could publicly announce, “If you sent me an email, expecting a response, and did not get one. Please RESEND IT.” My inbox is officially cleaned out, so anything that did not get a response, might have gotten spammed. If sent any emails to me in the last several weeks months and expected a response, but did not get one, I’m going to assume your email was spammed. If the issue still needs attention, please email me again. If it does not, I’d like to know anyway so I can make sure your email address isn’t flagged. I’m going to spend the rest of the week pouring over my spam folder looking for “good” emails.

Zoot! I forget if you saw it already, but have you seen Merlin Mann’s inspiring “Inbox Zero” talk at Google?? If you haven’t, it’s easy to find. I loved it. And David Allen’s Getting Things Done helped me a LOT too.
Not that my inbox is always at zero, not by a long shot! But I try very hard.
Congratulations on your empty inbox. Seriously. Doesn’t that feel good? I love GTD, especially the empty inbox part. The rest of my life/work can be all haywire, but if I have an empty inbox … well, then I at least have SOMETHING.
That reminds me, I really need to clean my inbox. My yahoo one is a nightmare. To make matters worse, it’s been crashing on me for the past few days.
You totally spammed me, didn’t you?
I’m completely envious, because I’m happy if I can keep my inbox to under 100 mails. Completely empty? Doesn’t happen. WOW.
That is an ambitious job….good luck. I think I was sent to spammville, but I have no idea……
You know, while I was reading I could actually hear you saying this. I guess that your voice implanted itself in my mind when you were doing the Harry Potter updates. LOL
Have a great day!
I sent you an email a while ago about a Harry Potter question. I just figured you hadn’t had a chance to get around to answering it, but just in case it was spammed ~ here I am! My email address is sechakecha@gmail.com
I wish I could empty out my inbox… but I have this problem with deleting things, ya see. I don’t delete ANYTHING. Not even spam 9/10ths of the time. =(
I need to clean out mine, too. Maybe today will be the day!
I’m jealous. I haven’t seen an empty email box in years.
Yes, I think my email got spammed at one point, too, as I emailed you a couple months ago about a Marathon question. Luckily, after some searching, I found the post that I was looking for…
And occasionally, I go back to read your whole “Operation Marathon” thread to motivate myself about mine.
I cleaned out my inbox today, too … and it felt good on one hand and then I was frustrated on the other hand … I had nothing non-school-work left to do. Time to study. Boo!
