The Cuteness Is Toxic.
Category: NikkiZ |

NikkiZ is sitting in her chair at my desk playing with some Valentags that Cagey sent me. The chair she is sitting in has a slatted back. (Is that the right terminology? With the bars instead of a solid back? Or did I just make up a word again?) She is sitting on her knees and one of her feet slid between the bars. She said, “Eh. Mom. Mom. I suck.” I turned and looked and said, “Oh! You are stuck! I’ll help you.” I pulled her ankle back between the bars and she said,

“Thank you, Momma. I so proud of you.”

Dude. Seriously? Is that even legal to say something so adorable? It’s almost as cute as the time she looked at MrZ wearing a red pullover he rarely wears and she said, “Oh! Daddy! That’s cute!”

Definitely should be regulated or something. I can’t handle it in large doses. It eliminated any desire I have to discipline. And she knows it.

I know right- my 2 year old insists on not wearing his winter coat even though it’s about a million degrees below zero (ok it’s like 30 degrees-but still. cold.)
He tells me he doesn’t need a jacket because “Your hugs will keep me warm!”

“How do you expect me to go to sleep when I just love you so much?!!”

    She is so sweet!

Oooh! That is one of the all-time favorite things my daughter says to me. Only it’s more of a “i prowayoo” in all one word. Adorable, and yes, the cuteness is sometimes overwhelming isn’t it? It makes up for all those other things that make me want to pull my hair out sometimes.

    Awwwww. She’s so adorable.

I think God did that on purpose…making the 2 year olds so incredibly, heart-meltingly cute. You know, so we don’t kill them when they have major melt-down tantrums and flat refuse to do anything that could be construed as helpful, safe, or generally a good thing to do. ;)

Awwww. They’re definitely cute on purpose.

    That’s adorable.

Isn’t it weird how they pick up phrases and intuitively know how to use them? Finn said to me the other day, “Mom! Look! See that awesome rocket booster?” as we passed the S&RC going home. I had no idea he knew the words “awesome” and “rocket booster”.

Sometimes I wonder if I should expect more of them, if I’m holding them back by constantly being surprised about what they know. Right?

Our kid says “No, honey! No, HONNNNey” a lot. I am glad we started cleaning up our language! Having a 2 year old is a good lesson in how one should be talking politely. Yikes.

Glad NikkiZ is enjoying the Valentags - I thought you must have them, they are so adorable. I was at the post office anyway sending some packages, so it was no trouble.

You are absolutely correct!!! That is so cute—and NikkiZ is REALLY proud of you.

    Love you all.

It really is on purpose. My lil’ bro used to always say “I lub you” when he was about to get a spanking. Worked, too.

Scout newest response to things is “cool”…it cracks me up.

oh and she has started asking for “peeeek alls” (pickles). She gets one every time!
