"Gawd. Mom is driving me crazy. How 'bout you?" "Ditto, dude."
The only phone privileges LilZ still has

I did something drastic today. I bought crib bedding. First of all - it was on sale at the store for 10 dollars cheaper than that online link, and it looks just a hair different, but it’s the closest I could find. That works out to less than fifty dollars for crib bedding. Which is not bad, right? Also - it’s the set I’ve been eyeballing because it has the right colors and theme that we were wanting if we could afford it. We are having to cut things so close this time around, with me being unemployed and all, and this is such a ridiculous splurge. But still - I couldn’t pass it up! DO YOU SEE THAT GIRAFFE? It’s damn irresistible.

Also - can you even believe I’m buying stuff for this baby? ALREADY? I’m only 24 weeks along and here I am buying bedding. It’s like I’m acting like a normal pregnant woman for a change, as opposed to the woman who still checks the toilet paper for blood every time she goes to the bathroom. (Too much information? Sorry.) Sometimes the flashes of normalcy scare me. I think I have those tendencies more so this time because this pregnancy has just been so normal. I never feel normal the first trimester because, no matter how many heartbeats we see and hear, I still never assume we’ll see week 14. Then, NikkiZ gave me a uterine clot at the end of the first trimester that mandated bedrest for a short period, so I never really felt safe with her even into the second trimester. This time there’s been cramping, but nothing else. Boring. Normal. So I find myself sometimes forgetting that I’m supposed to be overly paranoid and suspect of this baby and it’s chances of survival.

It’s a good feeling. I like feeling normal for a change.

I love it! Seriously Zoot…being where you’ve been…I’m loving your normalcy! Quite honestly, it’s inspiring. If I ever talk Mr. W into another try, I hope to go through it as you are…like a normal woman!

I’m almost 39 weeks and I still check for blood! When you are hurt so deeply by loss the fear doesn’t go away quickly.

ohh….is Lil Z really on phone restriction? I am always curious when he might be in trouble…because he is always so GOOD!

  7. Jessie Says:

I’m curious about the phone restriction too. Whatever could he have done?

  8. zoot Says:

Ah! He’s still on phone restriction from his last report card: http://www.misszoot.com/2008/01/11/what-tornado/

BUT - he does get to talk a little on the home phone. It’s just his cell phone was taken away. Hopefully we get a progress report this week and he’ll get privileges back!

    Cute bedding!

I think feeling normal is wonderful! I’ve made it all the way to 14 weeks and can’t imagine that I’ve actually relaxed a bit (not totally - I’m still afraid to buy many maternity clothes even though my pants are getting snug). My doctor is still acting all paranoid but honestly there hasn’t been anything abnormal about this pregnancy (other than the fact that it is still going strong) so I’ve relaxed. It is kind of cool. Now that I’ve said it I’m going to worry that fate will kick me in the teeth though. Heh.

I’d usually pipe up with “normal is overrated,” but in this case, normal is excellent.
Good for you. And adorable. :)

We have the Safari chair and toybox… I think the last time I was at BRU the whole line was on clearance… girl, get yourself over there!

It’s an adorable set and it’s great that you’re allowing yourself to get excited! This is one lucky little boy!

That’s the bedding we got for Alex. I still love it.

What happened to your other blog about being unemployed? Are you giving up on it? Or did I miss something?

  16. Susan Says:

You so deserve to feel normal. I wouldn’t have been able to pass up that giraffee either.

  19. Erin Says:

we bought this set too and loved it. I wanted something a bit more expensive but similar too (Malawi I think it was called) but just couldn’t justify all the money for something thats only used 2 years or so. We bought all the accessories and it still added up to less than the 5 piece crip set in the more expensive pattern. Enjoy!

  20. Katie Says:

So cute! My boys had Noah’s Ark stuff that held up great!

I too did the toilet paper check up until the day I had both boys. Loss will cause that!

    Such cute kids!

The crib bedding looks very cute :) And I’d love to see more of you over at Pregnant and Unemployed - I like being able to go to a site with ads and feel like I’m managing to help you out just a little bit!

  23. Tam Says:

Awww, jeez, you gave me chills! Congrats on the bedding. Some things you just have to do!
