Silver Lining of the Cloud of Chaos
Category: Domestic Me | 9 Comments »

Our lives are still pretty chaotic as NikkiZ’s room is not done yet. Her bed is still in our room (and of course she’s not sleeping in it) and her changing table is still in LilZ’s room. I’ve decided to embrace the chaos and find the perks of it instead of letting it eat at my soul. Because – as I told MrZ – my sanity is on the line here. I am not a clean freak, but I do love order. And right now? It’s in short supply around here.

I’ve decided to rejoice in some of the good things this chaos brings me. For example – I really don’t worry so much about picking up toys around the house before MrZ gets home because every toy NikkiZ owns is now in the main area of the house. It’s not like putting them in their toy boxes make a difference. I mean – there’s a Little Tikes basketball goal in my living room! What difference does it make if her baby dolls are on the couch?

I’m also not sorting her clothing. Her clothes are normally split up in her changing table dresser, but that is in LilZ’s room and blocked by the bottom half of the hutch that goes to her room. So, I’m just throwing all of her clean clothes in a basket and digging through them when I need something for her to wear.

There’s no way in hell I’m going to attempt vacuuming in this chaos. I could try to vacuum around all of her furniture and toys, but that does no good because the dogs have been hiding behind everything making those hidden places the spots that need the vacuum the most. And with her crayons and chalkboards around everywhere, I’d probably vacuum up more small things than I meant to in the process.

So – while I’d really love to have my house back in some sort of order – I’m just going to take this time to enjoy the excuse to refrain from my daily chores. I mean – that’s what life is all about anyway. Finding reasons to sit on your ass, right? At least – that’s what my life is all about.

Is there anyway you can move some of the stuff to the center of her room and still have enough room around the perimeter to move around and paint? I also hate living with disorder in my house. I get very aggitated and just feel generally out of sorts until everything gets back to its normal state. I hope it is better soon!

I think that is a great attitude, refrain from daily chores and embrace the chaos for now. Having lived in chaos for 8+ years (living in the house while remodeling is chaos), I want to hug you right now!

Our house is currently torn up too. Our septic backed up and carpet is being replaced in the basement and my husband chose this time to add a few walls in our loft, so things are insane. Clean? I don’t think I’ve done that in about 3 weeks! All this extra time is great for catching up on blogging though. Enjoy while you can.
