I WISH I knew how to sew anything other than a “running” stitch – which was never even straight after each attempt. My grammie was a great seamstress, but those genes just didn’t get passed down to me (HA! I almost typed “jeans”…hehe…how “punny”… OK let me stop now). Anywho, GO YOU

you are awesome, indeed. my sister majored in fashion merchandising in college, and i still carry the first sad little purse she ever sewed. well, i carry it sometimes. it’s very fragile, so it can really only hold, like, my ID and a few bills, or else it will break.

and, since i don’t know how to sew…that is not an option.

congratulations! i have been given a sewing maching by my mom and would like to play too… i love that striped fabric! i’m going to be redoing the baby’s room in those colors. well, it’s on my list.

See, the good thing about having 2 curtains is that the stitching at the top is gathered up because of the extra fullness. The stitching line is less visible, and you have a more finished look also! I think the rule of thumb is that you want the total width of the curtains to be at least 1 1/2- 2 times the width of your window.
Way to go, you 2-curtain-making seamstress!

I always end up sewing my own curtains because I can never find what I want in the store. Wait until you see how impressed everyone is when you tell them you made them yourself.

Awesome! Sewing can be addictive though. Pretty soon you look at everything and think, well, I can just whip that up. At least I do. And I can barely sew a straight line. I just sew things that don’t need to be square.

And now for some assvice. If you decide from the outside of the house you don’t like how they look you can line them pretty easily. I used sheets to line mine. Seconds at an outlet mall are much cheaper than a similarly sized piece of fabric and has a uniform color. Just don’t hem the bottoms together, only the top & sides.
