Random Bullets Of Food, Health And My Body

  • I burnt my tongue on my soup the other day and my first thought was, “Hmmm…I know what will make it feel better! A Cadbury Creme Egg!” And let me tell you – it did make it feel better.
  • My back was hurting after some work this weekend and I mentioned that I wanted to soak in the tub for awhile. Yesterday, NikkiZ suddenly blurted out, “My back hurts. I need to soak in the bath.”
  • I got my first pregnancy-induced leg cramp the other night. Two legs at one time. Those are by far – my least favorite things about pregnancy. Especially when a second one comes on the tail of the first and leaves me hobbling like a goblin the entire following day.
  • We finally tried some home-made peanut butter from our Fresh Market the other. They have machines so you can make your own, but we’ve always been too nervous to try. So, we just talk about trying it every time we go. And never do. Then, suddenly, they had some out and pre-made. Homemade peanut butter right there! We didn’t have to lift a finger! We were so excited. We got home and immediately tried it and decided: Eh. JIF is totally better.

The Cadbury Creme Egg had a melty center, right? Mmmm!

I’m a skippy peanut girl myself.

  2. cagey says:

I have plowed through one dozen of the mini Cadbury Cremes but have resisted the urge to purchase more. Hold me.

Natural peanut butter? I think it may take a bit to get used to because the natural stuff is not sweetened. Now? I cannot stand the unnatural stuff because it is way too sweet for me. Also, I swear by the Krema brand of natural – I have tried some others and they were not very good.

  3. Karly says:

I love JIF. I eat it with a spoon. Yum!

  4. Clancy says:

OMG, CUTE that NikkiZ imitated you like that. From what my friends tell me, children do that kind of thing all the time, but they (instinctively?) imitate the same-sex parent. Did LilZ imitate ex-MrZ when he was around that age?

Also, I feel your leg pain, literally.

Finally, you must be KRAZEE; Fresh Market fresh-ground peanut butter is the best ever!

  5. Texxla says:

Yeah, that peanut butter at Fresh Market is good for the first bite, when it is still hot from the machine, but after that……..I cannot remove my tongue from the roof of my mouth….I particularly like the almond butter, but again, just the first bite.

  6. Janet says:

hehehe, call me; I wanna hear you say “hobblin’ like a goblin”

  7. supertiff says:

i have never had a cadbury creme egg. suddenly it seems like a very urgent matter.

  8. atenly says:

Oh, how I wish for Cadbury cream eggs. And peanut butter. Stupid migraines. Why must the migraines be caused by the things I love so dearly? Not fair.

  9. Arwen says:

Ooooh, I remember the leg cramps! I hated those. I felt like I spent hours hopping around our bedroom at 3am trying to shake out my leg cramps.

Pregnancy can really be rough sometimes. It’s a good thing the pay-off is so wonderful. :-D

  10. jessica says:

OMG. YOU! It’S ALL YOUR FAULT! I read this post earlier, then had to run out to the grocery store to get a handful of things. A HAND FUL OF THINGS NOT BEING A HANDFUL OF CREAM EGGS. YET!!!!!!!!!!!! Here I sit, eating a cream Egg. One of SIX I bought for myself (with the intention I would have onea night for dessert in lieu of my scoop of cookies and cream. If I don’t eat two more after this I will be proud of myself) Now, I won’t balme youf or making me eat them, but man, i would have never hunted those damn suckers down if you hadn’t mentioned them!!!!

    Also – Thanks! SO YUM!

  11. Stephanie says:

Oooh… Cadbury Creme eggs! I kinda forgot it was Easter season already, since it comes so early this year. I’m seriously contemplating running across the street to the drugstore to go get one. (Not a special trip per se… I was going to go to the drugstore anyway after work, but this might just bump the trip up a little.)

  12. Aardvark says:

I use to make peanut butter with my students..it was never very good.

  13. Jezer says:

I had blocked out the memory of leg cramps until now. Those sucked.

I don’t think I’ve ever tried a Cadbury Cream Egg. I KNOW. But it’s just that the gooey inside looks kind of gross. Maybe I should close my eyes and just try it?

  14. Liz says:

At lease you have a super Target, we only have regular ones, granted there is one 5 miles from my home in every direction, still… *sob*

  15. Amanda says:

Yummmm, Cadbury Creme eggs. I bought 2 packs (4 each) at the grocery store the other night. I hid them in the cabinet, and yes later I did share one with my daughter. But no way would I let her see my hiding place! Chocolate has dairy, so that has to be good for the baby, right?

I feel your pain (literally) on the leg cramps. Mine started about a week ago. Ouch. So I’ve been wolfing down about 4 Tums before bed, and so far so good. Something about calcium helps the cramping. Oh well, it will be worth all the aches & pains very soon.

  16. Fraulein N says:

Cadbury Creme eggs make EVERYTHING better. I need one right now.

  17. Stacey says:

Cadbury’s. hmmmmm I haven’t had one yet this year. I am trying to be good darn it!!

  18. Melizzard says:

I so totally agree that store bought peanut butter is sooo much better than that natural homemade stuff.

  19. bzmomma says:

Can I just squish NikkiZ? I think Beans and NikkiZ would be a hoot if they hung out together. ahahah

Oh and my mom makes YUMMY homemade grape jelly (she had her own little grapevine going last summer). Want some to go with that peanut butter? heheh

  20. BJaxon says:

JIF?!?!?! You speak blasphemy!!! Peter Pan is the only TRUE peanut butter. :)

  21. amy says:

    JIF rocks!

  22. Jo says:

Um, I’m obsessed with JIF. I absolutely love it. I get that Purity O’Charley’s ice cream and put two scoops of JIF in it. Every night.

    Um…I’m obsessed.

  23. Amy says:

I was in a really pissy mood the other night and guess what I though would make me feel better? A Cadbury Caramel Egg over a bowl of ice cream! And not to make a preggo jealous (because I was in your pregnant shoes last year), I washed it down with a glass of wine.

And imagine this? It DID make me feel much better!

  24. Heather says:

Cadburry Creme Egg Cure All! Hooray! :D
I love Nikki’s little copycat act. So cute :)

  25. Bethiclaus says:

The leg cramps!?! I only had one with Mimiclaus, but it lasted for upwards of two minutes straight without letting up at all and the next four days I was sore as if I had been doing way too many calf raises in the gym.

Also, Jif? Really? Because the texture of Jif always reminds me vaguely of partially hardened concrete. Although maybe I’ve only ever gotten bad batches. We eat natural peanut butter, but for the weirdest reason ever. My husband likes the oil separation. There’s just something about mixing it every time you open the jar that makes him happy. And while I think that’s super weird, I’ve decided to just go with it.

  26. Steff says:

Leg cramps are *supposed* to be resolved with an increase in calcium – if you dont all ready maybe take some or eat EXTRA ice cream. I still remember my first ever pregnancy related leg cramp and that was like 12 years ago…

Jif is the only peanut butter…IMHO

  27. wilddreemer says:

thats it? just one cadbury. if that would have been me it would have taken an entire bag of cadbury mini eggs to heal the pain.

also you are a novice. you are eating your peanut butter all wrong. next time to do it correctly place peanut butter on spoon, top with chocolate chips, drizzle with hersheys chocolate sauce lick and enjoy. THAT is how you eat your peanut butter silly girl!

  28. RisibleGirl says:

OK- the leg cramps? We all know that it’s a pottasium related thing- so I won’t give you assvice there. But, whenever I see an opportunity to write about how dumb my husband’s ex-wife was- well, I’m all over it.

She was complaining about the leg cramp thing (although not pregnant). My husband told her that bananas help. This is a true story- she got a banana and rubbed it on her calf!

Oh how I love that story. Thank you for the opportunity to tell it.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
