Date Night

MrZ and I had planned to have a Date Night this weekend. We hadn’t done it in quite a while and wanted to squeeze one dinner/movie night in before AndyZ arrives. We had already decided to go to dinner around 5pm so that his parents could make it to church with NikkiZ. BUT – when we looked at the movie times – there were no showings of Vantage Point until 8pm. Which – you know – is a little late for us.

However, I saw there was a 3:20 showing. At 2:00pm I noticed that. NikkiZ and I both needed baths before we left so MrZ, of course, indicated that maybe that would be rushing it a bit. I scoffed at his lack of faith and at 2:05pm, NikkiZ and I jumped in the bath. At 2:28pm, we were pulling out of our driveway on our way to his parents.

Going to Church with Mimi and Dampaw
Of course her hair was wet and her shoes were on backwards – but that’s not bad for 23 minutes.

My hair didn’t even dry until halfway through dinner and I put my makeup on in the car (Not while driving!) but I made sure to point out to my husband, “You know. You are a lucky man. There are not a lot of women who could have done what I just did. I got my daughter and I bathed and ready in 23 minutes. I totally deserve a medal.”

He probably wasn’t that impressed because he knows I don’t (A) Use shampoo (B) Blow dry my hair or (C) Need more than 2 minutes to apply my makeup which is so insignificant it can be done in the car. But still! I got NikkiZ ready too! That’s impressive, right?

Anyway – Date Night was fun. The movie was very suspenseful and had a totally interesting chronology. It kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. We both liked it. We ended up going to a steakhouse for dinner and having a great meal. And then – when we got home – my hair was finally dry. So, I asked MrZ to take another picture of me (Sans Sweetie) since there’s not telling when the next time I’ll wear makeup will be.

It was Date Night tonight. So I wore makeup.
30 weeks pregnant. And quite blotchy.

My husband says he fell in love with me simply because I could go from needing to take a shower to showered, dressed, makeup on and out the door in less than 30 minutes.

You look beautiful :) I can’t believe there’s only 10 more weeks to go until AndyZ is here!

  2. Meg says:

You have got to explain this no-shampoo thing you keep mentioning. How come your hair isn’t a greasy mess?!?!?

  3. Zandria says:

Look at you, hot mama! Go, you! :)

I am impressed…I can barely get Scout ready in that amount of time (and she doesn’t have hair)!

I am impressed, and also on total cute overload from that small girl and your cute tum.

I ADORE those sparkly pink shoes; I bought Kaitlyn a pair at Christmas and she is obsessed with them.

I’ve got to second the request for info on the lack of shampoo.

Also, my boyfriend would look at you funny for managing to get ready that quickly. You have to realize that I generally wake up about 15 minutes before I have to be out the door while he wakes up a good hour and a half early. It takes him longer to get ready than it takes me.

Of course, I never wear makeup (too lazy) and live in jeans, tank top, and hoody (college student). There is a lot to be said for being able to get ready in a short period of time. And getting the kiddlet ready as well? Remembering how much I frustrated my mother by soaking in the bath as a three year old, you can colored me impressed.

  12. Elizabeth says:

You look beautiful, you goddess-mama. 10 weeks? yay!

  13. Jenny H. says:

I see no blotches. Where are these alleged blotches?

  14. Wacky Mommy says:

You and baby are gorgeous, happy and healthy! Your little girl is sure pretty. She gets it from mama.

  15. Cara says:

Cute Easter eggs on the mantel – so crafty these days!

  16. stacey says:

I gotcha beat. I can get ready in 15 mins…no makeup and with shampoo. Wait…could that be why I am STILL single? I think so….hmmm. Actually you don’t need makeup, you look fine without it. You are looking so happy!! AndyZ is right around the corner!!

  17. LFm says:

You look wonderful! And how nice was it that you got to go out for date night. I can not believe you only have 10 weeks left of your pregnancy…that’s just crazy!!!

  18. Isabel says:

Oh Zoot….you are looking so great.

Hooray for Date Night. Hooray for getting you both ready so fast. And hooray for pregnant bellies!

  19. WonderSpot says:

I don’t think I can even get out of the shower in less than 23 minutes. Mostly because I am very slow. And I love the hot water.

  20. canape says:

    You look awesome!

Of course, this was weeks ago, and if I don’t get my ass in gear, you are going to have had this baby before I catch up with my reading. . .

  21. ladybug says:

Again, you look awesome! Also? love WillowTree.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
