The sweetness will kill you

We went to the creek/park this weekend. As NikkiZ was running towards the slides, she fell in a giant pile of glass. I just knew I’d pick her up and there would be arterial spray coming from her hands and knees. But – after close inspection – there was only a small scratch. However – like with all toddlers – that small scratch was a serious injury and my rough-n-tough daughter found herself unable to walk or put the hand down the entire trip.

If you look in the majority of the creek photos (taken by either LilZ or I), she is holding that hand out. As I look through those photos I found myself thinking, “Will I remember why she’s holding that hand out years from now?” Well…I don’t have to! I can add the “booboo” tag and then make set out of it. Then I can link to this blog entry from that set. Forever documenting the day.

I just feel like NikkiZ is going to have such an amazing catalog of her childhood. Hell, I blogged labor for chrissakes. Now I’m able to use pictures/video/words to tell about every giggle and tear along the way. Which also gives her plenty of ammunition at her first therapy appointment. It works both ways.

(Please don’t forget about my Giveaway which ends on Friday! Come join the Young Adult Fiction Loving Frenzy!)

That’s exactly why I want to be blogging when I start my family. How awesome is it going to be to have a detailed time capsule full of visuals from the beginning?

    Such an ADORABLE picture, too!

I started blogging (at least in it’s current version), just in time to document meeting CB and our trials and tribulations and celebrations as a couple as we’ve made it through almost 3 years of being bf and gf. I love being able to go back through the website and read about how we met and our first date and our first fight, even.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to write about our wedding one day, too!

That is a pretty darn cool reason to be blogging. I do it for my own memory purposes….but to be able to document your children’s? They will totally thank you!!

  4. Heather says:

I love that picture…but then I love any pic of the two of them together! ;)

Such a sweet picture! You should be so proud of your little darlings, esp the one who is such a good big brother.

    Cutest picture EVAH!

And I go back through my archives and find stories about the boys I had totally forgotten about! Like the time Porter fell off the counter and simultaneously knocked the ant farm off and we had blood and ants all over the floor!

I love that picture – it’s so sweet!

What a great shot. The love that is dripping from both of them proves what a great family you four are. Awesome.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
