If it helps any, I had no problems at all upgrading to 2.5. But it did annoy me too that I was getting shouted at all the time. I was still on 2.2 when I upgraded to 2.5 though.

I never did update between 2.3 and 2.5 . But this time I updated the day it was released; for some reason knowing that there was a delay in its release made me feel comfortable that the bugs were out of the system.

I have had terrible luck in the past in updating it correctly the first time, but this time I got it all right in 15 minutes at the most.

One thing I wish they would do is instead of telling me “do delete this” and “don’t delete that” is to provide a screen shot of the ones to keep. I’m always scared I’m going to delete the critical file and all those really (non)important posts will all be gone.

I’m glad it’s not just me who feels vaguely anxious about looking at the “update now!!!!!!” message all the time.

Incidentally, I upgraded to 2.5 and disliked it enough to re-downgrade. Which involved quite a lot of screwing with the actual database because the upgrade changed some of the tables, too.

Pleh.

Ha ha – yes!

And I do my upgrades through Fantastico becausee I’m not yet quite confident in my ability to upgrade it myself, and Lunarpages doesn’t yet have their Fantastico upgraded to it.

Always hopeful that by the time Lunar gets it it will be tested and worthy of the upgrade!

Oh….and Twitter can kiss my insert-least-favorite-body-part-here! I don’t Twitter enough to mess around with it anymore than I do. Which is to click the ‘follow’ button on a few profiles and maybe update it once every several days.

I am so much of a WP newbie still! I always upgrade immediately to get rid of the pushy alert. It yells and I cringe and say “okay, I will update you now if you promise to go away!”

But I should probably do like you do…wait a few days, weigh my pros and cons, etc. I actually broke my blog when I tried to upgrade to 2.2 or whatever it was two releases ago. It has gotten better since, and this upgrade to 2.5 was the least painless I’ve experienced thus far.

I keep hearing about what a huge change this version is, but other than the new dashboard and admin structure, it seems basically the same to me. Then again, maybe I just haven’t done enough exploring.
