If someone has a small container of fresh fruit for lunch, is that healthy?
Good.
What if they also have a turkey/swiss wrap (sans condiments). Still healthy?
Good.
But - they might have splurged a little on some organic chips. Could that still be considered healthy?
Great!
Well…What if, at the last minute, they grabbed a giant-ass cinnamon roll? And by “giant-ass” they mean that it is - quite honestly - bigger than their head? And - quite literally - covered in 32 ounces of icing? And what if they opted to eat that instead of any of the above mentioned items? Where is that on the “healthy” scale?
Oh well. It’s the thought that counts. Right?

Mmmmmmm cinnamon rolls. I think I need to go find one of these. Too bad I don’t have pregnancy to blame for the 32 ounces of icing. ::sigh::
Nice! I grabbed a bunch of snacks from the HR office this morning to stock up for the rest of the week…I have one thing left. Out of four.
The fruit and turkey wrap are for you - those were the grown up decisions. The cinnamon roll choice was made by baby and how do you reason with a fetus? You can’t - so you give the baby what he wants. You are being a good mommy.
I can rationalize ANYTHING.
Mmmm…cinnamon roll.
I want your lunch — all of it. And so does AndyZ, so of course it’s healthy!
It’s quite simple actually, you’re eating a perfectly healthy meal. The baby wants a cinnamon roll and since you need to get him nice and f at for delivery, you oblige. I see no problem here.
pregnancy negates having to eat healthy..heehee!!!
If it’s a whole grain cinnamon roll.
I was eating raisin bran muffins for breakfast, thinking they were healthy — and wondering why I wasn’t hungry until dinner — until I realized they had something like 500 calories and 20 grams of fat per muffin.
Cinnamon’s an herb right….sorta? So you’re having an herb roll with dairy spread. Rationalization is an ART form.
Well it’s certainly better than if you ate the roll AND the fruit/wrap/chips… but you totally have Preg. Pass so you can sort of get away with anything.
Michelle is a genius. The BABY wants the roll, not you. You can’t deny the needs of the BABY!
Nothing wrong with indulging AndyZ
I just had a conversation with a friend about the Big Ass cinnamin roll, why are they so big and taste so good? I think if you are going to eat a cinnamin roll you must go for the Big Ass without the Big Ass guilt. Enjoy!
you are my soul sister. when i was pregnant, i could not resist cinnabon’s. there isn’t even one near me so i had to travel about 15 miles to this huge mall that had a cinnabon AND a popeye’s chicken (i also fell in love with popeye’s mashed potatoes. they are so feckin good). hey, if baby wants a cinnamon roll and you don’t feed him one? that there is tantamount to child abuse.
I think you’re fine because:
1. It is for AndyZ, so it doesn’t count.
2. Contains milk and you need calcium
3. Icing contains sugar and you need to keep your energy up.
All of those things count as healthy on ONE CONDITION…
That the ribs, cornbread and potato salad I was forced to eat during a company luncheon are ALSO considered healthy…
does it help that I skipped the chocolate chip cookie at the end???
I vote healthy, because you exercised RESTRAINT by eating the cinnamon roll and not ALSO eating the fruit, wrap and chips.
Unlike me, who could not decide whether I wanted chips, ice cream or cookies - so I had all three. For the baby, of course. (All five ounces of baby, who obviously NEEDS the calories!)
No one should argue with the rationalizations of a pregnant woman. That’s all I’d say about it.
Hahah! I laughed out loud at your entry and am actually still chuckling to myself. I think I was your food twin separated at birth. Perhaps that is why I find this so funny. I don’t know what kind it was, but I adore Cinnabon, and we don’t have ANY (that I know of, and trust me, I would FIND them) here in Louisiana close to me, so whenever I go to an airport, I seek them out and inhale a cinnamon roll. Pregnant or not. Actually, when I was pregnant I think I used to eat one and buy and extra for the plane. So really, I think you are doing pretty well…
Yeah, I had carrot cake for lunch yesterday. And even more embarrassing? I actually rationalized for a second that carrot cake contains CARROTS…which is totally a vegetable.
That sounds exactly like my lunch, but I had a bag of gummi bears instead of the cinnamon roll. Had to work with what I had!
I read every single comment to see if anyone else came up with the same answer I did, which is…
… you get to eat the cinnamon roll as a REWARD for eating such a good, healthy lunch as fruit, turkey wrap and organic chips.
Ta-da!
