Best Shot Monday

Final Step of the Dora/Papa Flip

This is my Best Shot Monday picture. This is part of a “flip” that I used to do for LilZ that my Dad introduced us to. Since we called my Dad Papa, I always called it the “Papa Flip”. But – for some reason – LilZ started calling it the Dora Flip to his sister. Probably to entice NikkiZ into trusting him with it. Since she’ll do/eat/watch anything that has DORA in it. Dora Vaccinations? FUN! Dora Spinach? YUMMY! Dora Global Annihilation? Let’s Do It!

I like this picture because it shows how fun the flip is (look at those grins) but it also shows how awesome it is to spread your kids 11 years apart. I’m too old to do that flip too many times without feeling it everywhere the next day. LilZ, however, can do it the 100 times required before his sister gets sick of it.

I swear Zoot, your kids are SO sweet. I think LilZ must be the best big bro ever. It’s just adorable!

I so very much love these shots of your kids interacting like this. It is so awesome to me that they get along so well, and that big brother so clearly adores his little sister. It is fantastic, and I think they will be so pleased you’ve photographed it all when they get older and can look back at it. Awesome.

This reminds me of when I used to play with my “little” brother. We’re six years apart.

I used to like to lay on my back (like this picture) and have him sit on my feet. Then I’d HURL him into the air. I called it cannonballs.

Yeah- I broke his leg in two places when he was three, doing that. The poor kid was in a cast for like four months. most of it was in the summer in Southern CA. You can imagine how comfortable that must have been!

    Nice sister, eh?

That’s so cute. Just yesterday Jeff was flipping Holly similar to that. They LOVE it and I love to hear the giggle that follows along with “Do it ‘gain Daddy!!!”. LilZ is the best big Bro!

I would probably hurt myself if I attempted that flip.

I wish I had a big brother like LilZ.

how sweet is that? You really are a lucky lady to have such a great son!!

What a sweet picture. And I give a hardy “hear hear” to the mandate of forcing, erm, allowing older children to do the more physical activities….I get tired just looking at a picture of that flip.

Zoot! Did you see that one of your photos of NikkiZ was grabbed “at Random” by Pioneer Woman to show how people have been using the Photoshop actions?! Take a look!

Ah, those two again with the unbearable cuteness! I love it!

Papa flips are a staple at our house ever since HMac was introduced to them by you at the firehouse… And now little Reid will not let a day go by w/o one…. As Reid says “papa flips are ROCKIN’ AWESOME!”

Unfortunately his rockin’ sounds more like he is dropping the *f* bomb… Which makes it even more hilarious… :)

I love how your kids love each other! You’re right – there’s a lot that’s totally good about an age gap.

  13. Audrey says:

That looks like so much fun!

(Of course as soon as I email you about the database error, the site starts working again.)

That looks like so much fun. Not sure my 9yo could control his 2yo sis without someone getting hurt, though.

I’ve always wanted an older brother.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
