Week Ending Bullets
Category: Randomly |
  • I’m currently letting my kids sleep 30 minutes later than normal because it’s been one of those weeks. You know the ones. We’ve all had our share of issues we’ve been dealing with and thanking GOD are over for the week. There’s the no pooping (NikkiZ), the CT Scan (MrZ), the general pregnancy irritation (Guess who!) and the WHEN IS SCHOOL GOING TO BE OVER ALREADY? (LilZ). It’s definitely a week that we are all happy to move past and I figured an extra 30 minutes sleep might be a pleasant surprise.
  • LilZ and I went and saw High School Musical Ice Tour last night. It was pretty impressive to see people sing and dance while on ice skates. I can’t even sing and dance in tennis shoes on stable ground. Throw in a frozen surface and shoes with blades and I don’t even want to think of the disaster that would follow.
  • We have three weekends left until AndyZ gets here. We all have our “to do” lists we’re working on. Unfortunately, MrZ’s main item is Paint The House which requires nice weather. Which has not been cooperating in the least for him the last few weekends. I can think of worse things than having a half blue/half tan house with the baby gets here, but the thought makes MrZ KRAZEE. When he saw there was rain in the forecast again this weekend, I thought he was going to lose it. He has decided that Mother Nature hates him and I’m convinced this is a sign that we’re supposed to have a two-tone house.
  • I’ve not been watching as much TV as usual lately. There are a few shows that have fallen of my list completely. But I have continued to watch Dancing with the Stars, which NikkiZ calls “The Dance Show.” And is it just me - or is this season a lot of fun? And I’m also watching Survivor which I haven’t watched all the way through in years. And I’m all over it as well. So - either these two programs did a better job of casting this year or my taste in television is disintegrating. It could be either.
  • I’ve mentioned that NikkiZ has been afraid to poop in the potty. Well, that manifested into her holding it for several days. Which ended up with me taking care of a toddler yesterday who really needed to poop but was still avoiding it. I finally just told her to poop in her pull-up because I decided it was WAAY more important that she poop than that it happens in a certain place. She did and I changed it and we moved on. But she wasn’t done, it turns out. And later in the day, she kinda accidentally pooped in the potty. So I praised her and gave her a praise, even though it was unintentional. And the whole thing? FREAKED HER OUT MORE. I think she’ll be even LESS likely to poop in the potty now.

I was thinking mother nature loves me because there is rain in the forecast this weekend. Although I’ve been itching for a sunny to walk around with my camera, it has been one of those weeks. I have slept less than an hour over the last three days, work is more stressful than usual, and I’m ready to drop.

Poor NikkiZ! What freaked her out? that she couldn’t stop herself?

My son had this same problem. He was scared to death to go poop in the potty. He would hold it for days and then cry when he just couldn’t hold it anymore. It was horrible. We had to have many talks about how it wouldn’t hurt if he didn’t hold it.
And I know none of this helps you at all except to say another kid did the same thing.

Ha. I now have an image of you dancing and singing on skates WHILE very pregnant. Now that would be something. ;P

CT scan? Did I miss something?? *furrowed brow* Hope everything is all right with MrZ. :)

The pooping thing is a pain but take heart as it will pass in it’s own time. You’re right not to force the issue.

Survivor is better - mostly because of the way the idol play has been going. I hated what happened this week though (don’t want to be a TIVO spoiler) but I really didn’t want to see that person go.

No Mother Nature hates me. And all jazz festers. Tell MrZ it is all our fault. :)

Hope MrZ’s okay, and that the weather cooperates before AndyZ gets here. I don’t think he’ll care what color(s) the house is, though. ;-)

Maybe you ARE supposed to have a two-tone house - like a saddle shoe! Only on a house. A saddle house. You could be bringing the 50’s (and the sexy) back.

    You know, or not… :)

I hear you on the poop thing, madeline just turned 3, and we are just as far from training as we were when she turned 2. What the hell!?

I have bagged Dancing this season (but that could be mostly because my boyfriend HATES it), but I am completely into Survivor. I think the level of play this season is higher than it’s been in a while, and there have been more people to root for, since it’s been Fans vs Favorites.

My mother just informed me that I was pee potty trained a full year before I would poop in the potty. She said I would freak out and then hold it for days - so she put a diaper on me for 15 minutes each night just so I could poop. Charming kid, I was.

I know this might sound weird, and I am sure everybody already knows this but it was big news to me, and really helpful—toddlers NikkiZ’s age almost always think their poop is alive—they often think it’s a person, even. This makes some of them really proud of the poop, but it scares some of them you-know-what-less. Some because they are freaked out they made it, and some because they think it was alive inside them. and some because they think it is a living thing sitting there in the potty. Which, come on, would be scary as hell. So it might help to reassure her about this, etc.

My youngest had an aversion to pooping in the potty, although I think in her case it was stubborness rather than fear. I don’t know, maybe it was fear.

    Anyway.

What worked for us was leaving her on the potty For.Ever. I gave her a book, sat there and talked to her, and finally she would give up and do her business.

Not sayin’ that’s what you should do, but it worked for us.

I am the biggest copy cat ever - but not on purpose!!

I posted “Friday Bullets” earlier today.

I’m pulling my own hair, you know, to save you the hassle :)

This morning my crew woke me up 30 minutes EARLY! BAH!

Could you send that rain my way. We have a scheduling conflict tomorrow that would be solved by rain.

    Poor little munchkin!

  15. Naughy Says:

Oh, the poop. I’m having the same issue with my almost 4 year old. She just REFUSES to go on the potty. I usually end up giving in when “I” can’t take it anymore. *sigh*
