After finally convincing someone I needed pain relief stronger than Motrin (Motrin? REALLY? After being sliced and diced?) I had a much better evening last night. I visited with friends and family without crying and I even rested a few hours throughout the night. We arrived home today sometime after lunch and I’m already dreading running out of the precious 15 pain pills they sent home with me. I’ve taken one of the pills and cried fifteen minutes ago because I’m due for another one and I don’t want to take it because then I’ll only have 13 left!
Things are going to get ugly around here the next few days…brace yourself.
I’m exhausted but thrilled to be home. I’ll feel even better when LilZ gets back from his Dad’s tomorrow. Then our whole family will be back together in our home and the real fun will begin. Or maybe I’ll finish my tumble off the deep end, we’ll see.
All in all? We’re doing well. Happy, healthy, and knee deep in spit up and poop. Anyone care to join us?

Congrats again on AndyZ and on being home!
There’s no place like home with all the people you love around you. Try not to stress over the pain killers, take it easy, and maybe you won’t need them all after all? If you have any left - send to me.
Enjoy being home with everyone, and well done Miss Z!
It sucks too..because if you run out and you call them and tell them you are still in a lot of pain they will tell you to take some Motrin.
I am not kidding. I was miserable for several days after I ran out of the freaking pain pills. Bastards. If you need us…just call!
It sucks now but you’ll probably have some left over. If you need it now take it! I’d join you in a heartbeat. Enjoy every minute.
I do wish I could bring you a casserole! But of course, that is a little difficult from Texas.
I know the next few weeks are just going to be a haze of spit-up and poop and trying to sleep, but an AWESOME haze, right? Enjoy your gorgeous family.
My OBs, too, always send me home with a dozen pain pills, and instructions to take 1-2 every 4-6 hours. Um? That is a 1-2 day supply there, dudes. My dad got a 2-week supply of the same thing for NECK PAIN.
I’ve had ONE female OB, and she sent me home with a prescription for 45. Do I need to say she’d given birth herself at one point?
Glad your home safe.
Sounds sublime. Erin’s right. I always feel like I’m going to run out of my pain pills early (as if I have surgery every other day or something), but then I end up with some leftover for all eternity.
Wishing you a pain free night.
Glad you all are home now! After having surgery myself in March, it’s great to leave the hospital and come home! Looking forward to all the new pics of you all!
Oh, it looks like NikkiZ is doing ok with her new brother. Hope that’s how it’s working out!
I want to join you!!
welcome home!
Welcome home! How is NikkiZ doing with all this?
Yay for being home! I know just after I’d had Meghan, I couldn’t wait to get home. I was in for four days overall and being at home was the best thing ever. I hated being in hospital.
You’re welcome to my vicodin - I have a huge untapped prescription from my surgery that I can’t use because it makes me puke. Great. My choice was PAIN! or PUKING! blech…
But YAY! for being home - hopefully that will help some with the pain…
OMG I so wish I was joining you in the haze of poop and spitup- that of my own very stubborn, as-yet-unborn baby. Congratulations and good luck squirreling away those pain pills!
Zoot - take your pain pills and don’t be afraid to ask for more. Fortunately my Dr sent me home with a solid 2 weeks worth of vicodin - meaning I could actually take 1-2 pills every 4 hours if needed - and when I ran out I asked for more…although by the time I filled it I didn’t really need it anymore. Use what you have and don’t feel ashamed if you need more. Call the nurse and tell her you are in pain and want a refill..Motrin just isn’t cutting it.
AndyZ is a doll! I am so glad that you are going to get to bring him home. You guys are such a great little family!! Thanks for sharing with us!
I too had a C Section and had gotten more pain killers when I had my wisdom teeth removed, and they were tiny compared to the 9 lb baby I had removed.
Congratulations! I can’t wait to hear what it is like to be a mother of three. HOLY CRAP.
First-Congratulations!!!!
Second-yikes! I don’t know how many pain pills I was sent home with, but I have extras, and I took them round the clock for at least 3-4 days. They had me alternating Tylenol + codeine with 600 mg ibuprofen. I had morphine for for about 12 hours although I think they did try to do without that, but they wouldn’t let me out of recovery until the pain was controlled and I let them know in no uncertain terms was that pain controlled with the anti-inflammatories they started with.
I’d take what you have though-rationing them and ending up going through pain to have some left would suck worse than running out and wishing you still had them.
Yay for the new addition!!! I’m very happy for the whole Zoot family. And I use the same place for my obgyn that you use and they will give you a refill for pain medicine. Actually they will give you one rather easily. I wouldn’t try to hoard them and hurt…just take them and call to get a refill. I promise they won’t judge you! welcome home and can’t wait to see pictures!
