Last Comic Standing

Chomp.
Gratuitous Baby Feet

Man. Blogging ROX. Do you know how much I loved every comment from that last entry that started out, “I felt the same way…” or some such commiserating statement. SERIOUSLY. I couldn’t really remember having read on anyone’s blog about that fear of not surviving it alone…so I was wondering if I was a freak. Turns out we’re ALL freaks! Wait. No. That’s not what I meant. We’re all AWESOME! Yeah!

We were at MrZ’s parent’s house last night for Sunday Dinner (AndyZ’s first!) and we were hanging out on their back porch waiting enjoying some cool breezes before the storms in the distance roll in when NikkiZ started entering panic mode. She kept going up to each of us and saying, “We need to go inside! It’s going to storm!” We kept trying to explain to her that we were a mere feet from the door, so we’d go in as soon as the rain started, but that did not suffice. She wanted to go inside NOW. BECAUSE THE STORMS ARE COMING.

It was funny and we found ourselves wondering if maybe she was the smartest one of the bunch.

So You Think You Can Dance?

She really is developing quite a personality. She loves to be goofy and has already developed quite a heightened sense of what is funny and what will make others laugh. Last night, she bid farewell to everyone at dinner by walking up to each of them and saying, “Goodbye, Daddy!” and then cracking up. She also loves the physical comedy as she breaks into these insane booty dances periodically. She’ll shake her hips and stick her booty out, most commonly after a bath while she’s naked.

Evidently a lot of her behavior is similar to that of her Dad’s when he was little. (Maybe not the naked booty dances…) Whatever it is – it cracks me up. I love having a kid who can make me laugh. LilZ has always been able to do that and his sense of humor only gets more refined and witty as he gets older.

Of course – my c-section incision would rather that my kids not be so hysterical. Just for the record.

That is a great shot of NikkiZ!! What a happy happy girl. Can I ask what is up with the warning label on AndyZ’s diaper??

  2. Tamara says:

That is one gorgeous little redhead (and one fabulous Dora swimsuit!) and two precious little baby feet. I have no advice, since I only have the one little man, but I am sure it is MUCH tougher recovering from MAJOR surgery when you have a demanding toddler (because they are ALL demanding toddlers, aren’t they?). I am glad to hear your dad is coming to help out for a bit.

  3. Swistle says:

You know what is hilarious about that darling baby-feet photo is that the warning on the bouncy seat looks like it applies to his DIAPER ZONE.

Do you get a lot of tornado threats where you are? Maybe she’s not understanding the difference between a tornado and a good, old-fashioned thunderstorm.

Naked booty dances. Ah, to be young and inhibited!

  5. Maria says:

She’s smart enough to know that it is best to come in before the rain.

This photo is hysterical. Love the joy of it.

  6. Jana says:

I love it when they are start developing a sense of humor, and NikkiZ is absolutely adorable!!!!

  7. Stacey says:

hahahaha Okay I get it now. I didn’t realize AndyZ was “strapped” in to a chair. I totally thought it was like “Warning Diaper full” yeah, it was early and on a Monday. ;)

  8. Kim says:

Wow. My J and your NikkiZ sound like the same kid! He totally cracks me up almost all the time. He has a great sense of humor . . . . and has developed a neurotic fear of storms.

Living in Ohio we get our share of Tornado warnings and what-not. But, while we were in DC for Memorial Day weekend, there were a couple times the news would talk about tornados in Iowa or Kansas or Colorado and he always asked with a tone of dread in his voice, “how many states away are they from us?”

Gotta love a kid who measures distance by states. :-)

  9. Liza says:

How is it that baby feet are so adorable? Adult feet are not that cute.

  10. Charlotte says:

I absolutely love her cheesey grin! Don’t worry – you’re going to get the hang of this and be a rock star. Just wait until NikkiZ’s a little older and has playdates. You’ll think back to this time and laugh that you thought you couldn’t handle it. You’re awesome!

  11. M&Co. says:

    O.K.

    I gotta ask.

What’s the warning on the diaper?

  12. Erin says:

It sounds like NikkiZ is embracing not being the baby anymore!

  13. Grandmere says:

I absolutely love pictures of Baby and baby hands. And the nekkid dancing? Our two year old granddaughter does hers in the mirror on the back of the bathroom door everynight follwing her bath. I have a copy of her doing it on video and it makes me laugh every time I watch it.

  14. Rachael says:

Your kids + camera = awesomeness. That is a great picture of NikkiZ!

  15. Michelle says:

I can totally picture her shaking her naked booty in the tub. Because my niece and nephew BOTH did the exact same thing.

  16. Moogie says:

What is it about baby feet that makes you want to dip them in powder sugar and nibble them right up? And the shot of NikkiZ is adorable. Was this using one of the pioneer woman effects (not sure if I said that right). Great shots. Hoping your incision heals quickly.

  17. Hannah says:

I was petrified of thunderstorms when i was younger ( i remember one time I was about 3 or 4 and i collected all the cushions from the sofa and put them in a pile one end of the sofa – i then moved them so my head was under the cushions – the idea being that i wouldnt see the flashs or hear the bangs.

I LOVE thunderstorms now!!!!! I love to sit and count how far away they are (and geeky things like that) and at one point I wanted to be a “stormchaser” – I didn’t want to be just a weathergirl! lol

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
