I was afraid I’d fall asleep today while caring for NikkiZ if I just let her watch TV. Then, of course, she’d see I was asleep and would do all of the things she’d only dreamed about before. Like letting the animals out and eating ice cream for breakfast.
So - I opted to keep her and I busy with fun activities so I’d stay awake and she’d resist a mutiny. We’ve already painted some outside on the easel and made Thank You cards. We’ve danced to Yo Gabba Gabba (still HATE that show) and vacuumed the house. I’ve gotten more quality time in with her today than I have in the last several days and my house looks great. I’M SO AWESOME. What is up with that?
Of course, I’m betting when it’s naptime I’ll sleep like I’ve never slept before. (By the way - I do take naps with the kids still EVERY DAY. So, don’t worry about that. I’m sleeping when they sleep!) But still - I’m so proud of myself for taking my exhaustion and not letting IT control ME. I WON THE FIGHT TODAY, DAMMIT! WOO HOO!
Who’s taking over my life for me tomorrow since I can guarantee you I won’t be functioning at an adequate level? I know for a fact I only have one day of fight in me. I’m not super woman, you know.

Yay! You won! You won! AND you vacuumed the house AND you had quality time with your daughter. That’s wonderful. I hope you gett a good nap today so that you can at least feel partly caught up. Keep up the good work!
This is totally true - I think moms go into emergency mode when things are crazy and they are exhausted. I’m always a better mom when I’m sick. Hang in there.
You are a rock star! I wish there was a nap time for everyone!
I can’t sleep with my kids are asleep. I’ve never been able to sleep under a time pressure, which sucks.
Although, there were the times like you illustrated here, where it wasn’t hard at all. I was plugging zzz’s and drooling withing seconds of laying them down. Unfortunately, those days were far too rare, dang it.
Glad you were able to tackle the exhaustion and grumpiness. I love love loved the late nights with my son because I knew how quickly they would disappear However the mornings were aways hel!!
You’re super woman to me. Exhaustion kicked my sorry butt a long time ago.
I think it’s just something about kids programmes - over a certain age they are just really annoying!!!
Teletubbies and Tweenies are the worst they are just seriously annoying!!
We have this show here called In The Night Garden and thats a whole different ball game - my OH is 23 and watches it!!!!! No wonder he doesnt get any essays done lol.
We don’t let Yo Gabba Gabba into our house. ick. The commercials wig me out. I can’t watch. I’m glad your grabbing the rest when you can. Take care of yourself, do what you can when you can, the rest will get done eventually, or not. Ok, so maybe you shouldn’t be taking advice from me.
