Day 3: Tricky Tricky Tricky…
Category: Operation Half-Marathon |

This is the third day in a row that I’ve stayed within my diet limitations for the whole day. Do you know how long it’s been since I’ve had that good of a stretch? Since I was planning my wedding and was determined to be the hottest I had ever been on my wedding day. (And it worked if the pictures of me in a bikini from our familymoon are any indication. Man. I miss that body.) I am usually the type of girl that goes two on and one off consistently. Three days in a row of being “good” is a MIRACLE. And I’ve been “good” with my diet and with my exercise.

We did our 3-mile route again tonight and planned to do the 2 minutes jogging/4 minutes walking plan. However, halfway through I cut our walking breaks down to three minutes. I didn’t tell LilZ I did this until we got home, he hadn’t even noticed! I noticed, however, because my THIGHS ARE ON FIRE. Man. I forgot how many muscles there are in your legs. When they are all hurting at once? You realize exactly how many there are.

Also? Why must Huntsville be so damn hilly? Why can’t we live in a flat neighborhood? And why is it that ever single hill on our route falls during one of our running segments? Why can’t we walk the hills? Our neighborhood hates us.

Another thing I forgot about besides the number of muscles in my legs? How bad I can stink. I haven’t worked up this kind of sweat since before I got pregnant with AndyZ. I forget exactly how bad I smell after a workout. I’m sure my husband would rather me not plop my nasty sweaty ass on the couch when I get home, but he’ll have to get over it. My sweaty ass can’t go much further after these runs.

So - day 3? Another success. A stinky success, but a success nonetheless.

Miss Z, you are going to be one of those yummy mummies everyone complains about if you aren’t careful!
    Go you!

How old was LilZ in that picture? I’m guessing maybe 10 or 12? So you looked like that 10 or 12 years after you gave birth. At the rate you’re going it shouldn’t take that long (good news!). Bad news? It won’t happen next week, either. ‘Tis the price we pay for having kids! You can do it! Just keep doing what you’re doing, you’re doing great! I don’t think I have that kind of willpower!

Yay! You can do it! I hope to eventually lose major weight, but even if I do…..I’m afraid I’m going to have some icky, saggy skin. Does running help with saggy skin, too?

I used to have that same 2 day on 1 day off plan and then I read the book by Martha Beck the Four Day Win - it’s totally great and changed how I looked at things. And that picture with the six pack - holy cow lady you’ve been a super hero! At least you know it can happen! Great work making it 3 days!

That is great. I ran my first 5K ever last night. Yikes I was scared but it wasn’t as bad as I had feared
