- LilZ is taking NikkiZ to a movie today. It’s one of the free movies at our local theater, so if they don’t make it through the whole thing it will be okay. I have no idea how she’ll do. I can’t remember when LilZ was old enough to make it through a “real” movie.
- I’m constantly eating while holding AndyZ. This means I’m constantly dropping food on his head. So far? Yogurt. Spaghetti. Ice cream. Red beans and rice. I’m such a good Mom.
- AndyZ has shown a sensitivity to soaps and detergents. Meaning he looks like a leppar if we use the wrong stuff. It’s quite sad, actually. So, we’re washing everything in Cheer Free. Because it has no perfumes or dyes, it doesn’t make our clothes smell nice. I miss that.
- LilZ is leaving next Wednesday to fly (by himself) to spend a week with my brother out west. I am hoping this will be the trip he’ll tell his kids about b/c my brother is planning all of this fun stuff to do with him. I told my brother I’d return the favor for his kids when he has them. Somehow I don’t think their trip to Alabama will be as life-changing.
- OMG. He’s leaving me for a WHOLE WEEK. I’ll be on my own during the day! I’M GOING TO DIE!
- I bought some North Face flip flops a few weeks ago. While I was not sure about spending that much on flip flops, they were so comfy and I really needed a pair - I went ahead and got them. MY GOD - they are the most comfortable flip flops I’ve ever owned. I’ve walked miles and miles in them so far and my feet feel AWESOME. Love them.
- I have a few more bullets to write, but my son (the diapered one) has decided he is being tortured by the baby papasan and is screaming bloody murder. So - more later!

I seem to remember that ThePrincess was 3 when she sat through her first movie; I’m sure it was due to all the training she received at home with marathon tv watching.
Speaking of detergents - ThePrincess also reacts to most detergents - but I’ve found that most liquid fabric softeners don’t seem to be a problem - I do try to stick to more “natural” ones (7th generation is my favorite if I can find it).
Did you ever buy those Rainbow flip-flops that you were talking about last year (Was it last year? The year before? How long have I been doing this new-fangled blogging thing anyway?)? Just wondering…
The North Face ones look awesome. They are a similar color to a pair of Reef flip-flops I have. My new wish is to get some Uggs flip-flops, which I saw a friend wearing this weekend…not sure when that will happen though.
Anyway, congrats on your new shoes!
Okay - first I am with you on your first post that you seem to have deleted (about shared night-time responsibility or lack there of).
I have also dropped food on my daughter’s head. Luckily she is big enough now to sit in her highchair while I eat. Now, when she eats, she wants to share her food with my legs - so I guess we are even.
I completely agree with the insaneness that is our lack of sleep so “he” can rest for work. Of course, how my husband can justify staying up til 12 playing XBox, but can’t get up 20 minutes before his alarm goes off to care for the boy is beyond me. He makes up for it in many other ways, though, so I really shouldn’t complain [it won't do any good anyway]
Please let us [me] know how NikkiZ does with the free movie today. We’d talked about taking Tyler to one or two of those as well, as since he’s only a few months younger, it will give me an idea how he might manage.
A few bullets, right back atcha:
* I dreamed I saw you and AndyZ around town last night. Okay, specifically, at Target. Your hair was wet, cause you had just showered, but you were wearing a sequined ballgown. And a baby Bjorn type thing.
* My baby also was big on killing my dreams for great smelling clothes. HIGHLY recommend Natural Touch Eczema wash for his bath.. it really does protect their skin. Also, Target’s Dreft alternative detergent was great for us.
Have fun, LilZ! Your mom will miss you! I look forward to your pictures–you have a great eye.

Zoot, love the flipflops! I so want a pair.
Oh, and So Glad to hear that I’m not the only one who feels like I know people whose blogs I read. Or movies I watch. What, Jennifer Aniston? Aren’t we friends? C’mon, Rachel! What gives?
And I. don’t. even. have. a. blog. So none of you know me at all! yeah, good thing I can’t go to BlogHer, because I’d totally hug the crap out of some of ya’ll and hide nervously and twitch. and possibly partake in far too much wine.
Mmm. Wine.
We took Lil’bug to her first movie last week. She did great! Funny, you mention it. It was the topic of my post today! What are they seeing?
I dropped food while eating on both my kids. Their fault for not letting me eat in peace. All I ask is 10 minutes!
Lil’bug was very sensitive to detergents. I use Dreft only on her laundry.
Nothing beats a comfy pair of flip flops!
In this case clarification of which son was not necessary! I just can’t picture Lil’Z being tortured by the baby papasan.
Hehe the diapered one. That’s so his knighted title - all hail AndyZ, The Diapered One.
wow. A whole week. You will be fine!!! What a trip it will be!! How west is he going? My sister, BIL and niece are coming from Phoenix in a few weeks. I can’t wait!
Hee–I used to drop food on Al’s head too. But what can you do? You gotta eat, right?
So the secret to comfy flip flops is to spend more than $3.47 on them? Maybe I should look into this.
Personally I would love to visit Alabama. Have you heard about those cellulite busting flip flops???
Both my girls were around the age of 3 when we went to their first movie. I think it helped that the screen was so big and it was “loud”…the popcorn/candy didn’t hurt either.
Those flipflops look awesome! Really comfortable.
Wow..a whole week out west? How fun will that be. You are going to do great though. Think of this as a trial run.
My oldest had the detergent problem as well and I used Dreft. It was well worth it.
Perhaps, AndyZ would stop growing so fast if you stopped christening him with food.
I love flip flops, but the price is making me twitch.
I hope LilZ has a blast. You’ll (We’ll) miss him, but we still want him to have a great time.
I bet Charlie’s Soap would send you a free sample to try, they don’t have much in the way of fabric softeners and such but it works great on clothes.
(my wife won’t let me use it for laundry, since she wants fabric softeners, so I just use it when I do a load of my running clothes. I usually toss in lots of my underwear / shorts / jeans to make the load bigger)
My five year old still won’t “do” movies, she has the attention span of a gnat, so we just rent stuff and watch it at home. I’m afraid if I take her, I’ll spend the movie out in the lobby looking at posters.
My kids love movies and usually last throughout (since 18mos.) if there is enough action and snacks!
Gotta try the flip-flops. Mine Hurt.
Those flip flops do look comfortable. I am afraid of flip flops, I don’t like how most o fthem feel. Maybe if I got really good ones…
Maybe Sir Mix A Lot would like AndyZ since red beans & rice didn’t miss him.
Hiya! I have a sensitivity to detergent as well (I get the nastiest little bumps… that itch!) Anyway, I started using the laundry detergent by Melaleuca and found that it: a - cleans the clothes really well; b - makes them smell nice; and c- is biodegradeable (sp?). Anyway, just a thought. Also, they have this power stuff (comparable to bleach but isn’t bleach) that sort of BOOSTS the laundry load and it’s fantastic! Oh and their spot remover cleaned BLOOD out of my son’s receiving blanket. I was silly and left him with his dad… outside… on the concrete. I learned two lessons that day.
