I (heart) flickr – and a CONTEST! I’m having a CONTEST!
Category: Randomly | 119 Comments »

Speaking of the awesomeness of flickr…they launched a new home page yesterday to people who want to use it first. They mention the sneak preview here. The opinions forum (an awful place to be a moderator, I’m just saying) is here and Heather’s introductory post has a sweet little tidbit at the end.

That url at the end is where you click if you DON’T want to enjoy the new features they’re going to roll out. Do you see the URL? It has a variable definition at the end of it that says “humour=NO”. Hee! That cracks me up. Flickr does the subtle humor a lot and is one of the many small little treats that make me so glad I drank the kool-aid very early on. Even BEFORE they were bought by Yahoo! I’m total Old Skool.

And, if you care? Here is a shot of the new home page from my account. The thing I already love the most is that when you look at the activity of photos you’ve commented on (like – to see if the owner replied to any questions or comments) you can “mute” certain photos. I commented on photos years ago that STILL get activity periodically and have been known to show up in that section. It kinda bugged me because – two years later I’m fairly certain they’re not talking to me. But, because someone ELSE commented, it shows up as “new.” I can now click “mute” on those photos and will only see recent stuff I’ve comment on. I like that.

flickrnew

So…to celebrate flickr’s new rollout…I’m going to have a CONTEST. (In tru PDub hero worshipping fashion. Except my prize only costs me about one-millionth of what her prizes cost her) I’m going to buy someone a Pro flickr account! Which is the best $24.95 I spend every year. SERIOUSLY. I love my flickr account. And – if you already have a pro account? I can still gift you one and it will just extend your current account for a year.

To enter? Just leave a comment here answering the following question:

You have a set of Salt-n-Pepper shakers. They are identical, except that one has more holes than the other. Which one do you put your salt in? And if you’re feeling chatty – WHY?

(I will close comments and then choose the winner by 5am Central Time tomorrow morning.)

    New stuff! I adore newness.

I put the salt in the shaker with fewer holes, but I don’t know if that’s the “right” way to do it. I just prefer to regulate how much salt I’m getting. Even a little bit too much salt can ruin food.

  2. Theresa Says:

The salt goes in the shaker with the most holes. Why? Well, because I said so. And because I like salt and want more to come out in one shake than will happen with the shaker with fewer holes. And pepper starts with a ‘P’ which comes before ‘S’ in the alphabet, and 2 comes before 3 (or 4 or 5 or whatever) so it makes sense to use the early letter of the alphabet with the smaller number and the later letter of the alphabet with the bigger number.

It really is a scientifically proven answer.

I have just started using flickr and have yet to pay up for the Pro account. I have thought about it though, but money is tight having just gone back to work after an unpaid maternity leave. I feel if I can’t figure out how to balance the unpaid utility bills, I should not spend money on playthings.

  3. Heather Says:

I put the salt in the one with fewer holes, because it’s got finer granules and will come out faster, so it’d be too easy to oversalt. Also, whenever I’ve seen them at other people’s houses, that’s how they have had them :-)

Also, I feel very famous that I’m now permanently on your example here as the first one in your contacts page ;) I am such a rock star!

  4. Amy W Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes, just cause I like salt more.

    Yea for flickr and contests!

  5. The Bug Says:

I put the salt in the shaker with fewer holes…I guess I’m partial to pepper!

I agree that Flickr is AWESOME!

  6. Elizabeth Says:

Pepper goes in the one with more holes and salt in the one with less. Salt should be used sparingly (and always dispensed to your hand first) and so the shakers should facilitate that.

  7. Jen Says:

I have a salt and pepper shaker set. I put the salt in the shaker with more holes because simply we use more salt than pepper in everything. Using the one with more holes for the salt saves me work. Plus, how do you get really good salty buttery popcorn without using the one with more holes. :-)

  8. Nita Says:

Salt in the shaker with more holes. Always. Salt is good! Very, very good. Pepper…not so much.

  9. Casey Says:

I put the salt in the shaker with more holes because I like a lot of salt. Mmmm.

  10. stacey Says:

Okay is this a riddle? I am so not getting it. But Salt goes in the one with less holes. Feeling Chatty? hmmm yeah don’t get it.

I have a flikr account that has maybe one or two pictures on it. I haven’t looked at it in a few years so I have no idea. flikr doesn’t love me. I tried and tried for so long to put pictures up on it, and well…I couldn’t get it to work and then out of frustration I left and really haven’t been back….

  11. Meg Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes because I like salt more than pepper.

  12. Dawn Says:

The salt goes into the one with more holes. Why? Because if I put the pepper in there more would come out onto my food therefore making my tongue start to burn. Then I would have to drink more milk therefore spending more money.

  13. LaShawn Says:

I would put salt in both. I hate already ground pepper and prefer to grind mine in a mill at the time of use.

Yes, I am a spice snob.

  14. Melissa Says:

Ooohh! I used to have a flick account and I’d love a pro account :-)

I put the pepper in the one with more holes simply because I love the pepper and am not such a fan of the salt.
Real fun when the inlaws come over for dinner!

  15. Rachel Says:

Yes and no. I have 2 sets, a fancy one and an everyday, we like our pepper and salt freshly shaven set.
The fancy set has salt in the one with more holes.

  16. The Other Laura Says:

More holes, salt. Fewer holes, pepper. That’s the way my mom does it and thus, so do I. I have coveted a Flicker Pro account for a very long time. I hope I win!

  17. MyDoppleganger Says:

I put the salt in the shaker with the most holes. But, I’m not a huge fan of pepper, so I typically don’t use it. Actually, now that I think about it, I have salt in BOTH shakers.
    Hm.

  18. Stephanie Says:

Salt in the one with less holes. Even though it kills me that I am apparently using pre ground pepper on my food. I am a pro pepper grinder all the way.

  19. D'Rae Says:

I don’t really know which one the salt should go in. We have a salt mill and a pepper mill. But, if I did have some shakers with holes in it, I would put it in the one with the holes shapped like an S……….

  20. Elizabeth Says:

I put the pepper in the shaker with the more holes. Because it barely comes out the more holes as it is.

  21. heather Says:

Oh how I adore contests. I put the salt in the shaker with more holes, because I salt everything and rarely use pepper.

  22. cassie Says:

I would put salt in the shaker with more holes.

  23. Debi Says:

You are so cool! I put the salt in the shaker with more holes. I think it has been that way since the beginning of time. And I hate pepper.

I LOVE Flickr, too! It is so easy to use which is always a plus for me.

  24. E! Says:

There is in fact no way to determine which shaker gets which spice because it is a cultural issue. For example, people in the UK have a salt shaker with only one hole because they like to put a pile of salt next to their dish rather than on it. Some people believe salt should be in the shaker with more holes because of it’s spice status (salt spice TOTALLY kicks Ginger Spice and Scary Spice’s ass) as the more preferred spice. Therefore, you would want it more than pepper. Those on a low-sodium diet, however, should opt out of the more-holed shaker and go for the less, making up for the taste difference with copious amounts of pepper and praying to the food gods that the recipe isn’t ruined.

I? I prefer the one with more. Salt my food down until my throat closes up, and I’m so dehydrated I need an IV of saline (which coincidentally contains salt in it…mmmmm more salt.)

  25. Anne Says:

Pepper goes in the one with more holes at my house. I have no idea why, but its always been like that. Sometimes I think about putting the salt in the one with more holes, but that would require change! Change is crazy. :)

  26. Bre Says:

I put the pepper in the shaker with more holes. Because… I just thought that’s how it’s supposed to be? But now you’re making me second guess myself.

  27. celticbuffy Says:

Well, since I don’t have salt & pepper shakers currently, I would dare to be different and put SUGAR in the one with more holes. Why? #1 I don’t use salt & #2 I use sugar (alot!) in my coffee so at least the salt shaker would go to good use! Of course I’d have to hide it from the rest of the family but that’s OK.

  28. Captain Says:

    Haha you make me laugh.

I put salt in the more-holes shaker. NOT because I like salt more, or that I think people should have more salt (as a volunteer of the AHA, I think people should NEVR use salt!), but because I can hear my mother’s voice now: “This salt shaker is broken! It comes out so slooooow! WHHHHHHY can’t you put the salt in the faster shaker???” All of this would be said in a whining voice. That whine makes my skin crawl. MUST BE AVOIDED.

  29. Heidi Says:

I guess I would put the salt in the one with fewer holes, because I use less salt than pepper. But, this prompted me to check my Corona bottle salt and pepper shakers and they have the exact same number of holes and the even put a black cap on the one for pepper and a white cap on one for salt and I’m glad they do because if one had more holes and both were identical I would probably be on the internet trying to figure out which one was for the salt and it would kill me until I figured out the correct answer – just cause I’m like that. lol

  30. doahleigh Says:

I always buy the cheap pre-filled sets from the grocery store. I’m fancy. Then I just know that the black one with the vegetables on it is pepper, and the white one with the vegetables on it is salt.

If I did have big girl salt-and-pepper shakers, I’d put the salt in the one with more holes because that’s good manners. Or so I’m told.

  31. Cereal Dieter Says:

Um, I would put pepper in both of them because I don’t use salt!

  32. Beth Says:

You put the pepper in the one with less and the salt in the one with more cuz in my house I rarely cook with salt so those who wish for it, need to add a ton.

  33. Susan Says:

Whoa, I never considered this before. I thought everyone did this the same way — the way I do it. Ha! My salt goes in the one with more holes, pepper in the other. Now I’m wondering if there is a “right way.” I’m sure Emily Post has weighed in on this. Off to google it now.

  34. Carrisa Says:

I love flickr pro. I already have one but they would probably just add it on to the end of mine right? Hopefully!

  35. Sandy Says:

I put the salt in the one with less holes, and the pepper in the three holes. Not really sure why-I think I seen it done that way before so I just picked it up for myself.

I hope to win the contest-I would LOVE a pro account. I now (finally!) have high speed so I will be posting more pictures. I’m the one that recently commented on how I started doing my pictures like you did -naming the pics and putting little notes with them. I did our trip to Branson last year that way if you would like to check them out.

  36. AmyBow Says:

Who puts pepper in a shaker? Pepper goes in a grinder, silly wabbit.

  37. Mar Says:

My grandma always said pepper in the shaker with the most holes, salt with less. I am sure my grandma would never lie. (She doesn’t even wear white shoes after Labor Day!)

We don’t own a S and P shaker. We buy the cheap prefilled ones at the grocery store (white for salt, black for pepper) and chuck them when they are gone. Classy, I know.

  38. LeAnne Says:

Salt definitely goes in the one with more holes. Why? Because we use salt a lot more than pepper I guess :-)

  39. Randi Says:

I always put the salt in the shaker with the most holes – my reasoning? I use salt more than I use pepper, and I have a very impatient nature, so I like my salt to come out easily, while I actually enjoy having to shake the pepper on!

  40. Melissalynn Says:

We put the salt in the shaker with more holds because my husband uses more salt.

  41. Nicole P. Says:

I put salt in the one with less holes. I RARELY add salt to things, unless it calls for it in a recipe. Pepper, I use more often.

I also heart flickr and PDub. I bought her calendar and can’t wait for her cookbook to come out! Her photos also inspired me to upgrade from my little point and shoot camera to a Nikon D60. Now, I just want all the lenses to go with it!!

  42. Lisa Says:

I put salt in both of them and use a pepper grinder for pepper!

  43. JoyLynn Says:

so totally crossing my fingers on this one, since my Flickr ran out a few weeks ago, and with my back troubles and having to pay for so many doctor-ordered back massages {so not as fun as it sounds, I PROMISE!}, I could use a new account! :D

Personally? I don’t put salt in either one [sorry!] My family is not a salt family, at all – but pepper? Yum!

To be quite honest, my husband and I bought a thing of salt a few months before we got married [in 2001] and that thing has made it through 2 moves and is still sitting in our pantry, well over 3/4 the way full. Does salt have an expiration date? :P

  44. Swistle Says:

More holes = salt. Because I like a lot of salt (a! lot!), and I want to be more careful about the pepper.

  45. cagey Says:

I have had a ProAccount for several years now and hell yes, they are WORTH it.

I always put pepper in the one with the most holes – it is more difficult to shake it out so that makes sense. Salt pours more easily and should go in the shaker with fewer holes. I HATE over-salted food and it ruins the dish for me.

  46. cagey Says:

Oops, meant to mention to please leave me out of the drawing – I would rather someone get the account that perhaps has not experienced the Beauty that is a Flickr ProAccount.

  47. Sabrina Says:

I put the salt in the one with less holes and the pepper in the one with more holes. I never heard a doctor say too much pepper is bad for you.

  48. Jenny H. Says:

    Pepper. Definitely pepper.

    It’s better for you anyway.

    So there.

  49. Janet Says:

Thanks for bringing this to my attention…and also for your generosity :-) Don’t consider me for this prize, as I’m already a Pro, thanks to you!

Salt in the one with more holes is how I do it…why? Cause it’s how my parents did it ;-)

  50. henley Says:

I put the pepper in the one with the most holes because I love pepper but am not a salty kind of gal:)
Seriously, I could live my entire life without a salt shaker…..
Thanks for the chance to win something! I’m all about prizes, especially today.

  51. skinny fat chick Says:

Salt goes in the one with more holes!

I don’t know why… actually I thought this was the general rule. And it really makes me angry when I go somewhere and it is the other way around – and I pour pepper all over my food without checking it first!

My logic thinking is that salt is used more, so it should be more easily distributed?/shaken?/poured?

Or maybe I have just seen it this way more?

I could go on all day….

  52. Jessie P. Says:

I put the pepper in the one with the P on it and the salt in the one with the S on it.

  53. Mary Says:

I always choose to put the salt in the one with more holes. My husband doesn’t use salt, and I do (and LOVE it), so it is totally my choice. And he uses a pepper mill to fresh grind his pepper, so why would I give him more free-flowing pepper?

  54. Natasha Says:

First – Don’t enter me in the contest…I already have a pro account. It rocks!

Second – I put salt in the one with smaller holes and the pepper in the one with bigger holes.

  55. nanann Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes, simply b/c I think I remember as a kid always seen dark flakes/spots/whatever coming out of the one with smaller holes, and people back then were smarter with etiquette rules than I.

SO looking forward to a Flickr Pro account! I’ve been dreaming of getting one, especially b/c I fear losing all my pics on my hard drive!

  56. Natasha Says:

Crap, I hit enter before I left my explanation! LOL Ok, so I am not a big fan of salt, so I want less of it. And I meant more holes not bigger holes :D

  57. Tara Says:

I would have the salt in the shaker with more holes. Not that I don’t like pepper–I tend to use both if I use anything–but it seems to me that even when the shakers are different colors or something, the salt shaker has more holes.

So I guess my official answer is, I’d do it the way I’d do it because that’s how I’ve seen it done. Funny, I’m not usually such a sheep, but there it is.

  58. The Old Neighbor Heather Says:

Well, ours has always been salt in the one with more holes and pepper in the one with less. When I was little it was salt in the S and pepper in the P. Then I read somewhere that miss manners or some such person said that salt goes in the shaker with less holes because it actually comes out more plentifully and the pepper should go in the one with more holes so it can be controlled better.

Now after saying that — we’re rednecks and don’t believe in following what miss manners (or the like) say :) So, our salt is in the shaker with more holes and the pepper in the one with less – and that’s they way it will ALWAYS be in our house…..

  59. -R- Says:

Salt = more holes because that’s how my mom does it.

I would love a Flickr account because I am having a baby in 8 weeks and would love to share baby pictures more easily with my family!

  60. Kimberly Says:

I vote to go to the store and buy one of the ones that have the turning tops. I hate filling those d@*n shakers. They are always making a mess in this house. So turny tops it is. :o )

  61. Stephanie Kujat Says:

I put the salt in the one with the fewer holes, for the simple reason that I use FAR less salt than I do pepper! When I use pepper, I want lots!

  62. ladybughugs Says:

I’d put salt in the shaker with more holes, if all THREE of my shakers didn’t have the same number of holes. The third shaker is for cayenne pepper, which my husband uses instead of salt.

  63. Mom24@4evermom Says:

Salt goes in fewer holes because it comes out faster. I always have to stop and think about that one though.

  64. Emily Says:

wait…your supposed to use SHAKERS?! I just buy those McCormick grinders with the salt or pepper already in them (or I use the pre ground peper straight from the can it came in – I am so lazy).

Well, I guess the PROPER way is to put the salt in the one with the smallest # of holes… Or you could buy ones that are black and white or have an S & P conviently stamped on them….

By the way I LOOOOVE the Pioneer Woman – My co worker turned me on to her after I gave her ‘Notes From the Trenches’. Yeah, we don’t get much work done :D .

  65. Hot Librarian Says:

Less holes = salt because… salt is unhealthy? I have no idea. I love salt.

  66. Karin Says:

Salt goes in the one with more holes because the faster that salt comes out the better, baby! lol!

  67. zeghsy Says:

the pepper goes in the one with more holes (because coarse ground pepper is the bomb!). :)

    i <3 flickr!

  68. Shannon Says:

The pepper goes in the shaker with more holes, because I like pepper. I like salt too, but I have to limit my intake, which is another good reason. When I was growing up, salt always went in the one with the most holes.

This is actually not something I have had to think about in awhile, because we have a pepper grinder now, so salt just goes in the shaker part of the set. Actually, now that I think about it, we don’t use the grinder from our set, but a completely different grinder.

  69. Michelle Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes, for an obvious reason – too much pepper coming out at once can get in your face and make you sneeze. Too much salt, on the other hand, is an unattainable state. Ask my blood pressure.

  70. Lindsey Says:

Pepper, because when I asked DH that was the answer he gave. He has the better memory for things like that, which frees my brain up for reading blogs and such.

I just renewed my Flickr account, and just about panicked when I saw I had only 2 days left and hadn’t gotten an email about it yet! My life flashed before my eyes, but then I remembered that they save everything if you fail to renew so that you can always come back at the same point. Phew.

  71. fairydogmother Says:

I would put the salt in the shaker with less holes, because I use more pepper than salt. In the moment, I would think this was a flash of brilliance since it should make for more efficient use of the pepper shaker. However I would probably forget that I had done this by the next time I needed to use the salt & pepper shakers, and I would find myself constantly using salt when I wanted pepper and vice versa.

(De-lurking, btw, because this was entirely too fun to think about to not comment!)

  72. Cara Says:

The risk of over salting OR peppering my food annoyed me enough that I bought grinders. I think its more flavorful, thus requiring less in the first place, and that you have more control with grinders. (I already have a pro flickr account, so skip me for that. I just felt opinionated today.)

  73. mle Says:

I prefer the grinders, too, but if I had to choose I’d put the salt in the one with fewer holes because I’m all about the pepper, baby.

(also, if I win, I’d rather my husband get the free pro account – he’s much more likely to upload photos than I am)

  74. Cindy Says:

Ooh, a pro account would ROCK. My computer is dying and I’m freaked out that I’m going to lose all my pictures and the thought makes me despondent.

Pepper in the shaker with more holes because me and salt are more acquaintances than friends. Pepper is my true love.

    Thanks Zoot!

  75. vanna Says:

you and your 34 new flickrmails….

salt = more holes. i like salt more, i think it should flow freely.
pepper = yuk. i don’t care if there are any holes at all in the dispenser.

  76. Emily Says:

Ooh, ooh, ooh! Please choose me! I really want to be able to have more than 3 albums and more than 100 uploads a month!

As for the question, the salt goes in the shaker with more holes cause people usually use it more liberally than pepper…. (or at least I think they do…)

  77. Wendy M Says:

I put both the salt and pepper *that I use* in grinders, and have cute salt and pepper shakers on my table that never actually get used! But, if I had some in front of me and one had more holes than the other, I would put the salt in the one with less holes. I would want to put it in the one with more holes, but it a lame attempt to eat less salt, I woud do it the other way.

I heart flickr too. Thanks for the contest.

  78. Carmen Says:

The salt goes in the shaker with fewer holes. Because doesn’t *everyone* like pepper better? :)

  79. Jerri Ann Says:

I put salt in both of them because I detest pepper. I hate it. It took me forever to get the cook at daycare to quit putting pepper in our chicken and rice. It was delumptous but that pepper, ewewwww, so, but salt in both of them and avoid pepper like the plague

  80. WendyB Says:

I put my salt in the one with more holes and in the second shaker I put Tony Cachere’s (Cajun spice blend) – best stuff on earth. Actually, we use this on everything, rarely use just plain salt.

And my husband just bought the new Nikon D90 so we are in serious need of a FlickrPro account. Happy day!

  81. jessica Says:

Please DON’T choose me, Zoot – pick someone who doesn’t already have one so they too can expeirence the AWESOMENESS that is flickr. But, because I am A GIGANTIC HUGE NERD, adn really hella anal about all things mundane and boring (Toliet paper, closet arrangements, sock drawers, etc), I wanted to answer the salt question :) Pepper goes in the one with more holes because pepper is typically more coarse and takes more effort to get out – salt, being finer comeso ut quickly, and when it’s in the one with lots of holes, it’s easy to over-salt. As much as I LOOOOVE salt – nothing is worse than having over salted corn on the cob. well, I suppose there are many thingfs worse than that, but over-salted corn really doesn’t taste very good.

  82. Chris Says:

Please please please let me win! I’m new and just discovering Flickr and would LOVE a pro account!

More holes? Pepper. Why? Don’t have a reason other than that’s how we’ve always done it.

  83. Kristina Says:

I woudn’t put either in them. My children would. Or my lovely husband would. I would simply state that they were empty and exect them to take care of them! Because that is what an awesome Mother and Wife I am.

  84. Kristina Says:

    um… i meant expect. duh.

  85. tbooty Says:

If I were in charge of the salt & pepper shakers, I would put the pepper in the shaker with the most holes.

I’m not in charge and my husband puts the salt in the shaker with more holes. He (like my parents & brother) puts salt on EVERYTHING. (He’s from Texas, and while I don’t have scientific proof that THAT is the reason for it, that’s the story I’m sticking to.) I don’t put salt on ANYTHING (unless I’m cooking and the receipe calls for it.)

I’m just weird that way. LOL

  86. kimblahg Says:

I would put the pepper in the one with fewer holes & I have no idea why.I am a mystery to myself.

  87. Procrastamom Says:

The salt goes in the one with the most holes, because that’s how it’s been done since the cavemen discovered condiments…you know, right after they invented fire.

  88. Marilyn Says:

I’m compelled to answer this even though I already HAVE a pro account: More holes – salt. Less holes – pepper. That’s the way it has always been, that is the way it shall always be. Amen.

Also, WHATEVER, like anyone ever comments on my flickr photos anyhow. *pout*

  89. Maria Says:

I would put the salt in the one with more holes because salt is larger and not as much is released per shake.

  90. MissB Says:

I tend to put my salt in the one with the most holes because I like salt. Yes, I know it’s bad, but if I put it in the other one, I just shake it forever. Plus, I don’t like pepper as much.

  91. Bunny Says:

    I (heart) you AND Flickr!
I think the pepper goes in the bigger holes, but the salt goes in the more holes. But I just buy salt and pepper grinders already filled at Costco so I don’t have these problems.

  92. Elizabeth Says:

I would put salt in one (the one with more holes – because I love salt!) and throw the other one out, sadly. Or give it to Goodwill. I have a pepper grinder, so no pepper in a shaker for me.

  93. Rhi Says:

I put salt in the one with less holes – because salt is NOT good for you and because I also heart pepper.

  94. Monica Says:

The salt goes in both. Because there’s nothing I like more than double fisting it when applying delicious, delicious salt.

  95. Liz Says:

Salt goes in the one with more holes. Why? Because it has always been the way.

  96. April Says:

More holes, more salt. I like salt! ;)

  97. Shawna Says:

Easy. I have such a set and I put the salt in both. I use the one-holer for salting food that’s already plated, and the multi-holed one for cooking. I have a pepper grinder for my pepper since fresh-ground is the only way to go.

  98. Janssen Says:

I’d put salt in the shaker with more holes. And then I’d put the pepper in a pepper grinder.

  99. Danielle Says:

My mom taught me that salt goes in the shaker with fewer holes because it’s … well … salty and you need to use it in moderation, and that pepper goes in the one with more holes. Dunno if there’s an official etiquette to it, though.

  100. Bouncy Czech Says:

More holes = salt. Just seems right…

  101. Amy Says:

Salt definitely goes in the one with fewer holes because salt tends to be smaller grained than pepper (unless you use sea salt or something)and thus comes out of the holes faster and pepper is lighter and less dense and harder to get out of the shaker and having fewer holes would mean you would have to shake your arm really REALLy hard to get out any pepper…and if you are like me you use a lot of pepper and not a lot of salt and want to minimize the amount of arm shaking to pepper dispensed ratio.

  102. elena Says:

More holes = pepper! I really like pepper and not enough pepper comes out when you put it in the shaker with less holes.

  103. wwbd Says:

Salt = more holes. Why? Husband told me that is the right way.
Don’t know or care if he is correct.

  104. Amy J Says:

I would put the salt in the one with less holes because I think it is worse to over salt than to over pepper.

  105. Elaine Says:

I think the salt goes in the shaker with fewer holes. It comes out faster than pepper because it’s generally smaller and more same-sized (no clue how to spell homogenous…) so it’s easier to get the proper amount. That’s what I think, anyway. :)

  106. Erin Says:

I would put salt in the shaker with fewer holes. Too much salt is, of course, bad! I use enough as it is. And EVERYONE should use flickr. That is an incredible giveaway Zoot!

  107. Kenna Says:

Pepper in the one with the most holes. I love, love, love pepper and it is harder to come out. I prefer ground pepper (I am a pepper snob).

  108. Julie Says:

I use grinders for both salt (sea salt) and pepper (whole peppercorns). Guess that leaves me out of the running :)

  109. M&Co. Says:

We don’t have salt shakers at my house, we just sling it right from the box. That’s not really true, but I do find myself digging in the cabinet looking for the salt box because no one besides me seems to be able to refill the damned thing.

  110. Steph T Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes. I guess it comes from growing up with salt-a-holic parents and because the one with fewer holes usually has bigger holes for the pepper to pass through. But now that I am all grown up (ha, right…good one), I have pepper grinder because I prefer my pepper freshly ground.

As for Flickr…I love it. I keep pressuring everyone I know to use it. I am acutally going to buy a couple of my friends subscriptions to pro for Christmas to make them feel like they need to use it.

  111. Lori Says:

I put the salt in the one with more holes because that’s the one that has the S on it, of course!

  112. Niki C Says:

I like to put my salt in the shaker with the fewest holes. It comes out faster than pepper does so to avoid salt overdose, I use the fewest holes. Plus I like a lot of pepper so more holes works in that sense. *smile*

  113. Nags Says:

I put salt from the salt tin directly into the dish I am cooking and my soup if it needs more. The salt and pepper shakers are just there so that my table doesn’t feel left out from other tables :D

You see, I am too lazy to clean those, fill those and all the rest of it. Plus, some of those shakers have very small holes through which you can fill the stuff! Really!

  114. alfredsmom Says:

I love flickr but I hadnt heard about their new changes until you mentioned it!

Salt would go in the one with more holes because I am not a pepper person.

  115. Meredith Says:

Salt goes in the one with more holes and pepper goes in the other one…However, I never use pepper at the table, just when I cook and at the stove/counter I use the large pepper container (because I’m usually measuring) so the pepper on my table is whoknowshowold and the salt I refilled last weekend.

  116. kobri Says:

this is NOT an entry for the contest because I don’t need another internet time-sucker.

I put the salt in the one with more holes. I really love salt, I also love pepper, but it is more socially acceptable to use lots of pepper so if it takes more shakes to get your pepper out no one thinks “should you really be having that much pepper?”. It’s more about avoiding the judgement over my salt lust.

  117. supertiff Says:

the pepper goes in the one with more holes. because, when has anyone ever said: ‘wow. that pepper came out way too fast!” see what i mean? wherever i go, it seems like the pepper shaker is clogged and i can’t get any damn pepper out!

don’t get me wrong, i love me some salt. but salt seems to always make it’s way out of the shaker just fine, no matter where i am. there must be something inherently more clog-able about pepper. so, i say: give the pepper a chance! give it some more holes to work with!

also: give me a flickr pro account!

  118. mamma knows Says:

When I salt food I’m careful (who wants salt overload on something) and when I pepper food I shake the hell out of it, so salt = less holes, pepper = more holes.

Drooling over the pro account, I’am in absolute LOVE with flickr here’s my proof http://flickr.com/photos/hclaire05/

    Awesome contest btw, thanks :)

  119. stepher Says:

Salt goes into the shaker with the most holes b/c we use a lot more salt than pepper and for some unknown reason, that’s just how both of us were reared.

I had no idea there was a new Flickr start page; you’ve made my day!
