Once upon a time…

Do you ever struggle to find a title for an entry only to find yourself typing something random in the Title Box that has nothing to do with the entry itself? Really? Just me then? Hmm. Well…this time it actually made me think of something entirely different to write about. So, this entry topic popped into my head AFTER I wrote the title. I have officially lost my mind.

I mentioned last year that NikkiZ fell in love with a certain Halloween book. In the last year we have probably read that particular book to her 95 million times. And I swear, I AM NOT EXAGGERATING.

So, when I saw this entry at Cagey’s, I knew I had found a new book for this year’s Halloween obsession. It worked out perfectly that Barnes & Noble emailed me a 15% Off! coupon the same day. (Sometimes the universe loves me.) We went to B&N one night last week and bought the book. And I have officially read it 9 thousand times already. (I swear! No exaggerations!)

If you like to get seasonal books for your kids, and if your kid loves Halloween as much as mine does, you totally need to get this book. It’s a play on “Goodnight Moon” and has GREAT drawings throughout. It did scare NikkiZ every so slightly the first few times, but she has since started begging for us to read it to her so that she can point out all of the scary things to US. She loves it.

Just call it NikkiZ’s Pick Of The Season in terms of Halloween Books. It gets her stamp of approval. And mine.

When you shared this last week I added it to my Amazon wish list. We LOVE Goodnight Moon. This may be a bit old for my one and a half year old, but I’m going to get it and stash it for the future. So adorable!

I can’t stand Goodnight Moon, but I love buying my kids seasonal books, so I’ll have to check this one out.

Hallmark’s got a really cute Halloween book for kids called Bubble, Bubble, Toads in Trouble. If you like seasonal books for your kids, check it out!

How cute! Is it bad if I buy that when my youngest is 9? Other Halloween books that were big at our house were Six Creepy Sheep and Happy Halloween, Stinky Face (and all the Stinky Face books actually). I know there were lots more, my kids LOVE Halloween, but those are the two I thought of off the top of my head.

I have to know, do that have a creature (similar to the mouse in Goodnight Moon) that you find on each page. That in itself would make it worth buying even though my youngest is 10 years old.

  7. Zoot says:

Sort of, I think. There’s a goon on every page, usually causing problems for the other monsters (stealing the witch’s hate, the creature’s shoe etc…) It’s really cute! My favorite line “3 little mummies, rubbing their tummies..” instead of “3 little bears, sitting on chairs”…

hmmm I wonder if the boy I babysit would like it or be scared…he just turned 5 and I need to get him a present. granted just a book isn’t fun but still!!

  9. Shawna says:

My daughter is nuts for Christmas. She has us reading Santa Claus books and listening to Christmas carols in the car all year round. I wonder if she’d like a Halloween-themed book for a change…

  10. I love it! I’ll have to pick up one!

De-lurking to say: I don’t know if you have a border’s near you, but they email me coupon’s for books every few days. Most of the time it’s 40% off. All you have to do is sign up(free!) for their rewards program.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
