Confessions…
- I don’t like the show Mad Men. I tried it…for awhile. I watched almost all of season 1. I just found myself angry at most of the characters and found no one I actually liked on the show. Yet – they won an Emmy last night. I’m starting to think maybe I have crappy taste in television. (Starting? Hee.)
- I do not like the Avett Brothers that much. They’re a band that some of my real world friends ADORE beyond COMPARE. Hell, even LilZ likes them. But – I just can’t get into them. I’ve tried because I think my friend Stace would break up with me if I didn’t like them, but I’ve started skipping past their songs on my iPod when they pop up on the shuffle. I’m sorry.
- I loved House Bunny. I’ve heard several people indicate it was dreadful and painful and predictable and not at all funny. Yet…I laughed my ass off. Go figure.
- I do not like Perez Hilton. At all. Everyone I know reads his site and laughs and laughs. Why do I have such a mental block against him? Why do I not laugh at his work? I don’t know. Or maybe I do know but I feel silly saying it. Either way – I don’t subscribe to his site but I do pretend I like it to most everyone I know.
- I don’t like Diaper Genies. We had one for awhile with NikkiZ and it annoyed me and it got in my way and when I opened it to put a diaper in it wasn’t as odorless as it claimed. So, we don’t use one. The poopy diapers go out to the garbage outside. I know – seems silly to make a trip outside instead of using a Diaper Genie. I never said I was normal.
What about you? Do you have any confessions that put your opinion against the norm? Maybe if we all share we’ll feel less awkward when we have to actually admit these things in public.
I don’t laugh at Perez either. I check out his site once in awhile, but I never laugh. If anything it just makes me think what a waste of time and energy obsessing about celebrities.
All diaper pails will fail at some point. IMO.
I am excited for new CBS shows tonight.
Oh, and as far going against the “norm”, I don’t like Harry Potter or anything having to do w/ vampires or the like. I know you and many are really into the Stephanie Meyer’s books, but not my thing.
My book club is reading it in Nov. I will be skipping that one.
I’ve never watched Mad Men. Or 30 Rock. Or Grey’s Anatomy. Or half of the shows that won last night. I DO, however, love House, and while I think it’s the greatest show EVA, it won one award last night. Psht.
A true confession? I listen to Britney Spears and LIKE IT even though I don’t care much for her.

I watched Mad Men for the first time last night, and I wasn’t in love with it. I am going to try a few more episodes before I give up on it.
I am due at the beginning of November, and I have no plans to get a diaper genie. I am planning on just bring dirty diapers to the outside trash twice a day or so.

Briefly obsessed with this band. Now over them.
Seinfeld. I never really got Seinfeld or thought it was that funny, but I have friends that LOVED it.
Also movies, almost all of them, I am not into movies and I have never seen any of the big trilogy movies, like Harry Pottery, Star Wars, Batman, or the Matrix (was that even a trilogy? I don’t know).
I don’t like Perez either….have read the site like twice and just didn’t like it…..I do however read pink is the new blog….
I was bitter at the Emmy’s last night when NPH didn’t win it went down hill after that. The only thing that saved it in my book was Ricky Gervais (from the original Office/Extras and that new movie Ghost Town) giving Steve Carrell a hard time. “I made you!!” And Tina Fey winning…I love her!!!
I have never heard of Avett Brothers…..
I did just download the new Pink song…kinda love it!!!
I don’t watch tv. The only shows I watch are ones with my 2 year old. I’d rather spend my time knitting, sewing, or even… doing the laundry! I stopped watching tv when Buffy and Angel went off the air. I am a big fan of movies though, because there is no commitment.
I don’t like the diaper genie either, although I have one. It just doesn’t work! I can only get it to properly *twist* close maybe 1 out of 10 times. So it’s basically a glorified weird trashcan.
I am really not into celebrities or t.v. I’m much more likely to watch a television show after it comes out on DVD and I hear millions of rave reviews. I did that for a season of 24, Weeds and BSG. I don’t read sites like Perez, because I just don’t care. Same goes for US Weekly and the like. Never buy them. Never read them.
I can’t get into Mad Men either…snoozefest. I also hate The Office. And I’m from Scranton! But the show is like fingernails on the chalkboard to me.
I hate Perez but read his site for the scoop. He is quick on posting the cool celeb scoop.
I hated the diaper genie too. NASTY! We kept a garbage can outside and all diapers went in it- out of the house, never to offend anyone!
My secret is that I love Jackass and find it hilarious. All of them. Looking forward to the next movie.

-Hated the movie “Sideways”. Everyone loves it and thinks it’s hilarious, I think it is twisted and depressing.
I’ve never seen Mad Men because I don’t have (and don’t want) cable. I actually really want to watch it because a college friend of my husband’s is on it (the guy with the beard who looks like Orson Welles and was an absolute DREAMBOAT in college). But it’s not worth getting cable because I am lazy and if I had cable, I would never do anything but watch TV. I’m bad enough with the channels I get with my rabbit ears.
Also, Joe v. the Volcano is one of my favorite movies.

I’ve only seen a handful of episodes, so most referential jokes go right over my head.
The episodes I’ve seen, I didn’t like very much. Frankly, that show just annoyed me!
-I don’t really listen to the radio so I don’t know much about current popular music.
-I don’t watch much TV and the TV I DO watch is often on the Discovery Channel, Comedy Central, or Cartoon Network. Any shows with plots are usually on Sci Fi. In other words, all those dramas that people love? Yeah. Can’t relate.
Back in their early days, the Avett Bros were (and still are) family friends of some of my extended family. The only time I’ve actually seen them play was at my cousin’s wedding. Now they’re big enough to spawn a commenting discussion on your blog. Totally blows my mind.

As for the diaper genie I’ve never used one. I just switched from cloth to disposable (bc am pregnant and cannot deal w/cloth right now) and was just tossing diapers in the bathroom trash. Yeah. That bathroom may never recover. They go outside now.
The things I get mocked for are loving the movie Idiocracy and not enjoying The Sopranos.
I always get annoyed when shows that my parents watch (and have bugged me to watch too) get Emmys because I feel it validates their opinion. NO, I’m not going to watch it! Leave me alone! Same thing happened with Sopranos.
I don’t like Perez Hilton either but I can’t even pretend to visit his site. I’ve seen screen captures of it, but I can’t say as I’ve ever actually visited it myself. I know… how did I manage to accomplish that??
I refuse to see Titanic and I don’t like Hodak’s fried chicken or The Black Thorn Pub’s pizza, which are both sins in St. Louis.
My confession? I hate Pink Floyd. With a passion. HATE. So many people I know think they are the greatest band of all time. I. Don’t. Get. It.

Never had a Diaper Genie. My sister hated hers. We used those little diaper bags that smell good and tied up the stinkies in those. They work beautifully. We loved those things and the world would END if we ran out.

I absolutely DESPISE American Idol and Dancing With the Stars. I don’t get why people are so insane over those shows. BORING. Plus the music in Idol? OMG, could they FIND worse songs?

My own confessions? Oh my mind is a scary place my friend and this is your blog so I’ll just throw out a little one. I don’t listen to current music. Almost all of my CDs are 80s or older. AC/DC or the like when I want rock, James Taylor or Eagles when I want mellow, and 50′s bubblegum rock when I want fun sing-along stuff. I’ve never heard of the band you mentioned.
I don’t have cable, satellite or anything like that so shows that don’t come on cbs, nbc or abc? I never see. New bands? I don’t have a cool teen yet to catch up on the latest bands so that leaves me out too. My kids are too big for diaper genies (and they were here before the conception of them) so I never had one. However, my neighbor does have one and honestly? She puts the dirty diapers in there and you can still smell them. I wouldn’t buy one either.
First of all, I’ve never even heard of Mad Men. As far as the diaper genie? It was the worst thing I spent money on, I think we used it twice. I have checked out Perez a few times because I am far too intrested in famous people, but he’s not funny. at all. I usually go for MamaPop or Pink is the new blog.
- I don’t watch awards shows, or even pay attention to the results. I already know I have terrible taste in TV!
– I don’t have an ipod, and I don’t really want one.
– I could not name a single Radiohead song. Are they really that great?

~I didn’t even watch the Emmy’s *gasp*. I don’t watch many dramas (other than ER and Army Wives) so I have no idea what they heck they are talking about. I’m a reality show junky and I’m pretty sure they don’t give many Emmy’s for those.

Like the Avetts, especially live, but I find seeing them once or twice a year is enough for me. I could not go on an Avett tour. Who I could, and do follow, is Donna the Buffalo – love, love, love. hard to describe but roots, Americana, with a little zydeco, dead jam, rock, old timey thrown in. We do the exact same thing with dirty diapers, even though there is a diaper genie sitting right next to the changing table.
We had a diaper genie with No. 1 (still use it for him) and it always smelled. With No. 2 we got a Diaper Dekor and we LOOOOOVE it. It holds way more diapers and it doesn’t smell and you can open it using your foot on a lever. It rocks.
I haven’t read any of the Harry Potter books or seen the movies, and I figure I probably never will.
I haven’t read any of the latest vampire books, I don’t even know what they’re called or who the author is. I was freakishly obsessed with Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles in high school and still love to go back and read them, so I figure one set of vampires is enough for me.
I have no clue who the Jonas brothers are. I mean, I get they’re musicians, but I couldn’t identify one song they sing or how they hit it big or anything. Same with the Avett Brothers…I’ve never even heard of them!
I buy gossip mags from time to time as mindless entertainment, and for the longest time I had no idea who Spencer and Heidi were. I thought The Hills was a horror movie, and I couldn’t figure out why 2 idiots from a horror movie were so famous.
One of my absolute favorite movies to this day is Disney’s Aladdin. I’ll still watch it occasionally, despite the fact I’m pushing 30.
I agree about “Mad Men” and Perez Hilton.
Of the former, I don’t see the interest in guys from the early ’60s who thought they were the shit because they came up with “Plop, plop, fizz, fizz.” Next will be a show about the guys who paint the line in the center of the street.
Of the latter, he’s just another of those out there who are bent on tearing everyone down. He contributes nothing positive himself. For me that makes him in the same boat with people like Rush Limbaugh. Always criticizing, never contributing.
However, I do like the Avetts. I’m not as fanatical as Junkie (who introduced them to me), but I think they are good musicians & have good lyrics.
No experience with diaper genies. No kids.

we never had the genie, it was too confusing and had to buy refills, we have one that you jam in the diaper flip the top and it falls into a regular trash bag. it only smells if we fill it full of poop diapers… i try to limit that!

AMEN to the Diaper Genie! We did the same thing when our second kid came along…just took poopy diapers straight outside. SO much easier, right?
My confession? I love watching CSI:Miami, even though everyone around me can’t stand it and doesn’t know why it’s still on tv. But me? I like it.
I don’t like perez hilton, dane cook, or chuck norris. Lots of people I know like them and I don’t get it. I actually kind of like the Jonas Brothers. The good thing about having my own dorm room at school is I can listen to the whatever embarrasing song I want to (and sing along) and noone is there to make fun of me.

I went to Housebunny by myself and really liked it…I laughed out loud quite a few times….and my confession…I am an accountant and don’t like Office Space OR The Office…everyone I work with loves both.

And I too have watched Mad Men (my brother RAVED about it) and I just kind of got frustrated with all the sleeping around. (Although the hunky main guy made me watch a few more episodes than I might have)
I don’t like Diaper Genies either, and they’re pretty pointless when you have two kids in diapers. In the heat of Utah summers, our yard smells like a zoo due to the poopy diapers and cut grass that take up much of the garbage can.

I do not like perez, dane cook, carlos mencia. I think award shows are stupid. I am really picky about what tv shows I watch. I usually watch them on DVD. We just barely started watching Heroes season 1, lol.
I feel like an old lady already (I am only 24) because I feel like most of my friends dress like 12 year olds. I have actually had a friend from high school tell me I dress like an old lady. My mom says I look like a normal mom, heh.
I mostly use cloth diapers so a diaper genie wouldn’t work for me. But I did try one with my oldest and I broke it the first week of his life. I turned the thing the wrong way or something.

I’m an avid reader (3,000+ in my to be read pile), but I haven’t read Harry Potter and don’t have an interest in doing so.
I’ve watched a few episodes of Dancing with the Stars, but overall have no interest in reality TV.
I could go weeks without speaking to anyone and be perfectly happy.

I don’t know a single person who finds Perez funny, and I haven’t read him in a couple of years. As long as you don’t mind the extreme end of gossip, go dlisted.com and wwtdd.com and idontlikeyouinthatway.com is all I can say! (Todd from that last site was even nice enough to visit my website when I first started commenting and we started emailing…so I can definately vouch for him!)
