Wait. What Day Is It?

Did you all know it’s November 1st today? As in…the first day of November? How, exactly, did that happen? I mean…it seems like yesterday was…Halloween. Okay. Nevermind.

As much as I love Halloween – and I truly do – it wears me out every single year. And last night was no exception. Between the walking around the neighborhood carrying a 30lb pirate on my hip, and the staying up waaay past my bedtime handing out candy, Halloween wore me out! Or maybe it’s just because I started eating candy at 5pm and had begun to come down from my sugar rush about 8pm when the trick-or-treaters were coming full force. Don’t those kids know a sugar drunk when they see one? Jeez.

NikkiZ did a great job last night and came home with more candy that we handed out. And we handed out over 500 pieces of candy before running out. And by “running out” I mean “shut the door and turned out the lights because someone was waaay too tired to be stay up one minute longer.” I put a sign on the door that said, “No More Candy” but MrZ made me change it to “Out Of Candy” because it sounded more apologetic and less, “GET AWAY YOU WHIPPER-SNAPPERS!”

I had to admit, he had a point.

Now – to the important subject: NaBloPoMo. I decided I’m going to try to do several things this year.

1) Post pictures in at least one entry a day.
2) Take at least one picture a day that does not have any of my kids in it.
3) Comment on 10 different sites a day.
4) Find a new blog every day to comment on daily.
5) Be positive.

These are the things I’m striving for this month, but if by the 5th I’m writing bitchy entries with no pictures while commenting on nothing? Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

The costumes look great and I hear you on the exhaustion thing. Once a year is enough for me! And get that damn candy out of my sight or I am going to eat every mini-snickers in the basket.

  2. Gigi says:

You are crazy ambitious, woman. Good luck!

Ooh, comment on my blog please!! I’ve been reading your blog since you were pregnant with NikkiZ, but just start regularly *writing* a blog a few weeks ago. You’re like a ROCKSTAR or something. I may faint if you show up one day in November!!

Also, If you’re like me being positive this month will have a lot to do with what happens Tuesday. I’m so dang nervous my stomach is in a knot.

  3. Ellen says:

Wow. What a list. Good luck. You can divert over to my blog or Flickr page if I help you check off your list.
I enjoy reading your blog and I LOVE the Red Hot Silly Pepper costume!

  4. Sarah says:

I think you can TOTALLY do that.

Maybe except the being positive thing.

But that’s why we love you. ;)

  5. bigskygirl says:

i too, would love to have you visit my blog, kim!

LOVE the kids’ costumes. How did LilZ decide he wanted to be a giant chicken? Hilarious. :)

  6. Charlotte says:

Ahhh! The chicken costume is all that I hoped for and more! Did you get any individual shots? The chicken foot killed me. Glad you survived Halloween!

  7. Jamie says:

Those are some hefty ambitions! You inspired me to try NaBloPoMo last year…. I think I lasted two days. Whoops. So I’m not ANNOUNCING my intentions this year, so if I don’t follow through no one (read: the three people who read my blog) will be disappointed.

  8. JoyLynn says:

What an adorable little pirate, my little pirate would have been in love {if, ya know, he could have left the baby girl alone long enough…he talked about her for several more houses!}.

    And the chicken? LOVES!

  9. Brenda says:

This will be my 3rd yead doing NaBloPoMo. I have yet to actually post everyday in November but it is the month I post the most. I’m hoping to at least post one thing everyday this year. I’m also a big crockpot chef and lover of pumpkin so come check out some of my recipes :-)

  10. stacey says:

You are an ambitious one!!! Good luck to you. If you find awesome new blogs that you love you will share them with us right?? :)

  11. Holy Heck, Miss Zoot. That’s one crazy November you’re setting yourself up for! I know you can do it! can’t wait to read along!

Your kids are SO cute. But you knew that…

  12. Katy says:

They all look so cute! Well obviously LilZ doesn’t look ‘cute’. He looks cool. As cool as he can look in a chicken costume!

It sounds like your setting yourself up for a big goal this year on NaBloPoMo. Good luck!

Oh and as stalkerish as this sounds, I had a dream about you last night. Well, more like you were in my dream. There were loads of other people there and NikkiZ was missing but you didn’t know. Anyway, I went looking for her and I found her with some maid. And then I woke up.

  13. zandor says:

Hi. I’m doing NaBloPoMo too. I think it would be awesome if you commented on my blog. I don’t get many comments, but if you ever stumbled over to mine and commented that would be awesome. Those costumes are great. I love the second picture. So cute.

  14. Connie says:

Where do you get the free coupon for Velveeta?

  15. Julie says:

Ok, I am going to be a follower. Not that anyone reads my ramblings, but I just started a blog and this will help me keep going.

  16. Maria says:

Love this crayon shot. Nice job.

Your children look great in their costumes.

  17. SupaCoo says:

You are SO AMBITIOUS, zooty! I remember your 100 posts last year (which I thought was insane) but this is also an admirable goal. It’s obvious you’re just teeming with free time these days :D

  18. Becca says:

    That’s a cool picture.

I know you hear it often, but LilZ is the coolest kid I ‘know’. Dressed as a chicken? With his Lils? Oh, how I love thee.

So, yeah. NaBloPoMo. Didn’t happen so much as it is now November 3 and I have exactly zero (0) new entries on my blog. Oops.

  19. ladybughugs says:

I love LilZ’s chicken costume. So funny! and NikkiZ is just about the cutest little pirate ever! The leg slit for AndyZ, brilliant!

I’ve already been forced to revise my aspirations for NaBloPoMo. Posting on the weekends is too stressful.

  20. Miss W says:

Damn, AndyZ’s eyes are the most gorgeous, vibrant, beautiful blue I think I have ever seen. Am mesmerized by those eyes!

  21. Courtney says:

The costumes are great. I look forward to having trick or treaters when I have a house, but I can totally see how it would be exhausting. The crayons picture is fantastic.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
