In case you’re reading in the feedreader, I wanted you to see what my new site design looks like. (I would never force you to come over from the feed reader to view it, I find comfort in my own feed reader as well and hate when I feel forced to leave it’s security.) (What? Too serious when referencing the relationship with my feed reader?)

newdesign

Do you like it? I used another tagline derived from Dr. Horrible, I just couldn’t help myself. (I think someone else who might be giving her entries titles from Dr. Horrible would commiserate.) I got the DVD for Christmas and am still quite obsessed with it. I decided I wanted something a little more cheery around here so I went for birds. And then immediately regretted that I chose these birds as soon as I realized how close to the Twitter site my design now looked. sigh. I just can’t win, can I?

I made a few changes on the sidebar, adding a section that will show the political movements I’m keeping up with. There’s one there today that’s even great for the conservatives in the audience. Please remember, while I tend to err on the Liberal/Progressive side of politics — I still sometimes may offer something on the sidebar that the conservatives would like as well. I’m not going to direct you to any of my Reproductive Rights efforts, but justice for military men who might have been knowingly poisoned? That’s a non-partisan issue if I’ve ever heard of one.

I also took out my husband’s and son’s flickr updates from the bottom of the page. Since they updated flickr like…never? Seemed kinda silly. I did, however, add buttons for most of the projects I’ve been involved with recently or things I’m proud of joining.

On top of the new design, I finally upgraded to Wordpress 2.7. And let me tell you? I’M SO HAPPY WITH IT. So far, anyway. My category box for my composing page? Is back on the side (instead of below where I always forgot about it) so I’m hoping I won’t have as many entries accidentally filed in the default category anymore. Not something any of you probably notice or care about, but for someone slightly OCD like me? I’m thrilled.

I like the interface better all together. Everything just seems prettier. Silly, I know, but the prettier my interface? The more fun it is to blog.

So – that’s it for the Geeky McDorkerson updates for the day. Let me know what you think! Unless you hate it all, then please don’t say anything. THANKS!

Also, I was told that the birds below – separating the entries – look kinda like bras. Do you agree? Should I re-order them to look less…bra-like?

I love the new site design! And I wouldn’t mind being directed to your reproductive rights efforts. I’m trying to be more involved in making a change now, too.

  2. Sarah Says:

bra birdies…I thought was on purpose.

  3. Mrs. CPA Says:

Love it! I am entrenched in my feed reader so that I can read at work!

  4. Sarah Lena Says:

Um, yeah.. kinda bra-like. Maybe add some black swirlies in between the pairs?

That’s a technical term, right? Swirlies?

  5. Janssen Says:

Bless you for not forcing people out of the feed reader. Two of my favorite bloggers switched to partial feeds yesterday and I’m totally bugged (yes, maybe I’m a little too invested in my blog reading). But seriously, I just think partial feeds are RUDE!

Great new design! And yeah, a little like bras :(

  6. Fraulein N Says:

Pretty! I don’t mind the bra birdies. And thank GOD someone finally explained that last tagline. I was feeling all kinds of lost.

  7. Cagey Says:

I like the bra birdies. Of course, I am completely OBSESSED with bras now – Anjali weaned a few weeks back, so now I am on my 2-3 month countdown until I can go get a fitting for my impending splurge on New!Bras! that fit my Girls when they have settled down. I figure after all the hard work they have done, they deserve something pretty.

Blog design changes always leave me feeling a little left out – some folks change their designs ALL the time. I have absolutely no desire to change the design that you did for my blog. Is that weird? But I love it and it is just perfect.

  8. jessica Says:

LOVE IT! and I didn’t even notice the “bra birdies” until you mentioned them, but now? THATS ALL I SEE :)

  9. stacey Says:

Very pretty. I do like it!! :) I didn’t realize that the birdies looked like bras till you mentioned it. darn it.

  10. Lane C Says:

I left my feed reader to say…HOW cute. I don’t see a bra with the birds.

  11. Maria Says:

I love it. You’re right, it does look prettier.

The birds do look like bras, but don’t change it. It is rather funny.

  12. heidi Says:

Had to leave the safety and comfort of my reader to say I love the new design. Oh so pretty. The bra birds? Yeah, re-order. And I’m a little too in love with Dr. Horrible. It’s a sickness.

  13. Alias Mother Says:

I wouldn’t say bras… I would say those little “cutlet” things that go IN bras.

Love the new design. Of course, I always love your designs.

  14. bessie.viola Says:

Super cute! I love the birdies… Twitter doesn’t have the exclusive rights to cute birdies. :)

The separation birds are a little bra like… I like the PP suggestion about black swirlies. Sort of like the branches at the top?

  15. Devilish Southern Belle Says:

Hehe, people click over to comment anyway!

I love the new look; it’s very springtime-y.

  16. Erin Says:

I say keep the bra birdies! Thanks for keeping the feed reader love alive. I’m so frustrated with all the people switching to partial post, I’ve actually quit reading a few blogs that I really liked b/c it’s just a hassle. I was using this add on that http://www.Miss-Brit.com suggested for Google that added this button to the bottom of each post in the reader that made the whole sight pop up right there in a second (you could even comment fast without leaving reader) but it disappeared when Google revamped and I can’t get it back.

  17. Michelle Says:

So purty! I like the birdies.

Any thoughts on coming to Blissdom09 since you weren’t able to make it to Blissdom08?

  18. secha Says:

I didn’t realize they looked like bra’s until you said something!! And even then I kinda had to strain to see it. I love the design – but then again I’m a sucker for teal and black together!! Love it!

  19. Stephanie Says:

    Looks awesome.

I also adore Dr. Horrible. I received the DVD for Christmas and rewatched it last weekend. Have you checked out the “musical commentary”? Is it really a commentary… in musical form? I heart Joss Whedon.

  20. Azul Says:

It’s boo-tiful! And yet, the birdies do look like bras, but they’re kinda cute and quirky that way.

  21. Denora Says:

Yay new site design! I like it, and the bottom birdies do look a little bra-ish, but since you’re quite fond of discussing your boobs on the site, I think it’s perfect for you! I just started using WP 2.7 and I am also in love. I have yet to get it all set up and looking pretty enough to house my current blog (still hanging out with Typepad), but I can’t wait until I can make the switch!

  22. Elaine Says:

I like the new site design. I do think the little in betweeners look like bras, but that doesn’t bother me in the slightes! I doubt I would have noticed it if you hadn’t pointed it out. Happy weekend!

  23. Liv Says:

I like the bra birdies. They make me think of the cute little demi cut bras that I will never be able to wear as I am cursed with big, bodacious boobs. A girl can always dream.

  24. Meg Says:

I would NEVER have thought they looked like bras if someone hadn’t said that… but now that it’s been pointed out… yes.

On the other hand, I wouldn’t have left my feedreader if I hadn’t been insanely curious about how a bird could look like a bra.

  25. Amanda Says:

I like the new design! Didn’t even seen bird bras until you said something. :)

  26. Carmen Says:

Yup, like others I didn’t notice the bra birds until you mentioned it. I do like the new design – and I’m happy when people point out a new design so that I can click over from my feed reader to see it. Otherwise, I click over to comment, realize that I missed a new design and then am sad and wonder how long it’s been.

  27. dee Says:

Love the new look! I was very happy about the category box moving back to the side in WP 2.7 too. I’m not sure how many posts of mine are missing categories because I didn’t notice it at the bottom.

  28. Jamie Says:

I love the new look! And seriously, how amazing is 2.7. I wrote a post when I upgraded about how I have a crush on it.

    Now THAT is geeky!

  29. Tamara Says:

Z–LOVE the new design! Great job, as usual!

  30. Amy Says:

I love the new design..LOVE IT.

I do think the birds look like bras…but I think its funny- you should leave it as is

haha. yes! they totally look like bras!

  32. Sandy Says:

    Love the new design!

  33. M. Says:

    looks fantastic!

  34. vanna Says:

beautiful… bra birds or sunglasses birds, they are fantastic.

  35. Ashlea Says:

I love it! it looks really great.

I love how you can change your page so much, but still keep it the same (if the makes sense) I wish mine could do that. Its not quite the right design.

I thought the birds down the bottom were pretty, but then you said about the bras I instantly noticed them.

But i still love it :)

  36. Zandor Says:

I like how it looks. I didn’t notice the bird bras until it was pointed out. Even though they kind of do I still like how they look.

  37. Heather Says:

Haha I didn’t think they looked like bras til you said so! heh. Also, I love it! Very pretty :D

  38. Lisa Says:

I like it! And I hate birds. But I do like bras. As for reader? Amen sister.

  39. Andy Says:

    Love it!

  40. Sonja Says:

I love the birds! I even clicked through from my feed reader (it was exhausting! :) ).
Had you not mentioned the bra-ness of the birds, it would have never occurred to me.

  41. Courtney Says:

I loooove the new design. I even like the bird bras. You’re making me want a redesign more than I did before and I wanted one bad.

  42. texxla Says:

Bra-dies? Hehe But pretty none the less, esp the colors.

  43. Sheryl Says:

Hey, my banner right now kinda looks like yours. Great minds think alike.

  44. SupaCoo Says:

I think you are SO talented and brilliant and it looks great!

  45. brit Says:

    What?!

Your tagline could be….Underthings..tumbling. Then you could keep the bra birdies.

I love this new look…even if you are now rated pg13 (bras..)

  46. magpie0327 Says:

umm, love the new design, but where did your links button go? I always start at your site, then move to DGM’s and Joy Interuppted!

and they only looked like bras after you mentioned it!! Kinda like when there is a window shining on the TV, and as soon as you notice it, it turns out to be all you can see!! hate that.

  47. Rachael (SNOTW) Says:

Very pretty… I love the birdies at the bottom and your new buttons down at the very bottom!

  48. mizburd Says:

Hi, Zoot. Just wanted to thank you for the Velveeta coupon you sent me. Don’t worry about it being late! I love reading about you and your family and watching your kids grow up.

  49. Lisa Says:

They do look a little like bras (the birds). I love the colors and design! Nicely done. :)

  50. lynne Says:

I love the birds. Keep the bras;)

  51. Kandi Ann Says:

Heh. I guess my therapist would commit me. That is if I had one, I really didn’t think I needed one but I see little mean owls scowling at me and I had to really squint to see bra’s. Ok. I will go put myself in the corner for a time out now. *slinks off*

  52. Momo Fali Says:

Love the look. Definitely associated the birds with Twitter, but I’m kind of addicted to Twitter so that’s a good thing. I didn’t notice the bras, but now that you mention it… Though, not my bras because they’re working overtime and would be sagging a bit more.

  53. Mel Says:

Ooh, I like the new design. Very pretty! I totally didn’t think your divider birds looked like bras, but I just asked my hubby, who’s sitting next to me, what he thought of when he saw the divider and he said “Boobs”. Then again, he is a guy…

  54. Frema Says:

Holy crap, they DO look like bras!
