I Have My Priorities, You Know.

I’ve been going back home to Knoxville to see my Dad every weekend. This is something that I really want to do, not that I feel like is necessary. As a matter of fact, there’s a good possibility my Dad is holding back the urge to tell me to LEAVE HIM ALONE, ALREADY – but until he says that, I’m going to keep pestering him. The teenage version of me is like, “Ha! Payback for the insistence that I do homework when all I wanted to do was to use my free time to write the lyrics to Stairway to Heaven on every item of clothing I owned.”

However, I decided to plan one weekend off to give me a chance to catch up on some things at home. Since MrZ is gone all this week on business and coming home Friday, I thought I should take this coming weekend off so we can spend some time together. It seems like it would be kinda crappy for us to go almost 11 days solid without seeing each other. So, I’ll just stay home this weekend and hang with him. Right? Like a good wife?

But

We received an invitation to a group birthday party the weekend of the 14th. The next weekend. If the invitation is any indication, it’s going to be AWESOME. They want NikkiZ to dress like a princess as that is the theme of the party. Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) is going to be there! FOR REAL. Prince Charming will be doing balloon animals and there will be face painting. This party is going to be AWESOME. And while the invitation may have been addressed to “Princess NikkiZ” – I’m just as excited as she is. SERIOUSLY. So, I’ve made my decision. When choosing between Time With My Husband and Princess Aurora – I’ve opted for Princess Aurora.

I mean, my husband will still be here even if I miss my weekend with him. You know? Princess Aurora will not. He’ll understand.

Oh my…I would totally do that!! How fun!!! Just make him travel some more to come and see you and your dad!! He won’t mind. ;)

We are excited about the party too. Now Princess Jillian needs to find a dress to wear!

Just think how sweet the reunion will be when you actually get to hang with MrZ again…

  6. Sleeping Beauty is totally my favorite Disney princess movie! The Hubster just bought me the Blu-ray for Valentine’s Day and we did family movie night and showed it to the Monkeyboy for the first time. Which was awesome. So obviously I think you made the right decision.

(For the record, I agree with Merriweather. Aurora’s dress should be BLUE.)

Something tells me that Mr. Z wouldn’t want to deal with you missing the party! I am sure he understands.

Sometimes you have to juggle. I’d go to the princess party, definitely.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
