Woulda Coulda Shoulda
I could write about my oldest son starting high school today. And how I’m having severe anxiety over this issue as his class has about 750 people more than mine did…making all of my experiences completely useless to him as lessons to apply to his life. Like, “You’ll get a demerit if you wear pleated pants!” Somehow he found that nugget of wisdom useless on 32 different levels.
I could write about how much my daughter loved the ocean and the only thing keeping her from staying out in it all day was me needing breaks to restock the energy cash. She’s a fish! Or – as she would correct me – a MERMAID!
I could write about my newest favorite author: Sarah Dessen. (Yes…I just heard the sound of you all rolling your eyes in unison wondering what took me so long.) LilZ has been begging me to read her books for years. After the first (Along For The Ride) I’m officially hooked.
I could talk about how I spent an entire week away from my DVR and I did not go into convulsions at any point. Not even when I knew I was missing the So You Think You Can Dance finale. Of course, it helped knowing it would all be waiting for me at home…
I could discuss my minivan and how awesome it is to allow us to pack an entire family along with a week’s worth of stuff while also entertaining the kids with movies for the 9-hour drive. LOVE MY MINIVAN.
I could tell you about my gross toes (leftover injuries from the hike from hell) and how I lost a toenail on the beach and am now wearing bandaids over it to keep from grossing out innocent bystanders. YUM!
I could ask you to please bring me up to date on any TV/entertainment news I may have missed last week (screw real news) as I was too overwhelmed by my feedreader to read all of the updates. I did a quick scan of blogs but I used the dreaded “Mark as Read” function for all of my TV websites. EEK.
I could tell you about a lot of things. And some of these things I will come back to give you more detail about. However…right now? I’ll just tell you how much I missed you and give you a few photos to gush over since you’ve had to go so long without seeing the faces of my gorgeous family. (Insert sarcastic eye roll and goofy grin here.)

I hope you share more stories about your beach trip, and what the kids liked/didnt like. I SOOO miss the beach. We are living in Korea now, and there ARE beaches, but I’m a little wary to go visit one (besides trying to find a good place to stay with little info in English out there) because I am sure it wont meet my US beach memories.
OH YAY! You’re back! WOOHOO!! (I mean, it must suck for you, but it rules for us. Welcome home!)
Mmm, toes in the sand! Looks like a lovely holiday.
I love the photos!
School starts TODAY?! That seems way too early! Of course, I live in a state where it is literally state law that school can’t start until after Labor Day, so my views are probably a bit skewed.
My husband is worried about not being able to give advice to our kid about high school since my husband went to a school with only 32 kids in his class. My class had 450 or so, so I think we have it covered. And our kid is only 9 months old, so we probably don’t need to worry about that yet, even though my husband already is worried about it.
Welcome back! Good luck to lilz with new school today. You have a gorgeous family.
Forget LilZ, somewhere during this vacation AndyZ turned into a little man. What the…? Did the beach have special aging properties? Only for him, of course. It clearly rejuvenated you.
Ahem.
welcome back!! we have all missed you guys!! I can’t believe lilz is starting HS. wow. just wow. Your kids looked like they had a fantastic and wonderful time at the beach!! that last shot of you and your honey is soooo sweet!!
TV news?? OH OH OH I did hear one about HIMYM!! The mother is seen in the first episode of the season….man where did I see that article?? Let me see if I can find it. The writers were very vague about it…….of course….like she could be in a crowd shot…..I will see if I can find it.
found it faster than I thought I would! http://www.tvsquad.com/2009/08/04/himym-scoop-the-mother-will-be-in-the-first-episode-somewher/
I missed you! I’m heading to the beach in a few weeks and your pictures made me almost giddy with anticipation. You really are a beautiful family (and I mean that without an eye roll).
Love, love, love the pictures. I can totally wait on the words when the pictures are so freakin’ fantastic.
Looks like you guys had a great time. Glad you’re back, though!
Wait, why isn’t this post about me?
(Google Alerts FTW!)
OMG, you have her liitle toes painted! SO cute.
Glad your vacation was great.
Yeah! You’re back. I can stop going through withdrawal now

School starts already?
But it seems so early!
Beautiful pictures, as always.
Lovely, lovely, lovely. You DO have a beautiful family, and I have missed you!!
Glad you’re back! I *told* you about Sarah Dessen… Love them all, but DO NOT read The Truth About Forever quite yet. Seriously, though, one of my favorite authors, YA or otherwise. And she writes a blog! http://writergrl.livejournal.com
Welcome back! It does look as though the “baby” has grown about five inches since we saw him last. Can’t believe school’s starting down there already.
Great pics! School here doesn’t start until the 25th, and I can’t wait!
I love these pics! It looks like you had a fabulous time. I can’t wait to hear how LilZ did at his first day.
Love the pics! Glad you had a good time on your vacation!
So which one had the rash you twittered about and was it an allergic reaction to something?
Love the pictures
Especially the wide angles. And your family IS awfully cute
You have a beautiful family!!!
I missed you too. I had the week off and all I did was watch what I had recorded.
P.S. You DO have a gorgeous family. You know I love all of your photographs.
I love all the photos!
The kids look cute, like always
Very jealous of the peferct weather you had. I can’t wait for summer!
I ADORE Sarah Dessen. I’ve read all her books this year, and they are each amazing. Someone Like You is terrific.
Excellent photos. You look gorgeous in that last one; I think it’s the prettiest picture of you I’ve ever seen!
