A First: Adding Textures To Photos
I’ve been loving looking at all of the textured photos from Pioneer Woman’s photo challenge this week. They are simply stunning. I decided the morning to give it a whirl with a few photos I took at Tate Farms this weekend. As usual, I feel this incredible need to downplay my work: I’m an amateur! I don’t know what I’m doing! I know they’re ugly! But you know what? I’m trying NOT to do that because the truth of the matter is: I’m proud of them. They are not as amazingly inspirational as the ones PDub has been posting on her photo site…but they’re mine and while I’m too shy to upload them to her flickr group…I don’t mine sharing them with you!
I started with the tutorial where Jodi uses textures of her own that she has photographed. I don’t have anything like that in my collection (never thought of photographing for a texture before!) so I went to my favorite Web Design Resource and got some cool textures from this entry. I would love to play with textures and photos all day but I have real things I need to accomplish…like catching up on my television. I mean…do laundry. That’s what I meant. Yeah, do laundry.
Here are the two I did…I think I may even print these babies up to see how the texture translates to paper. I’ll let you know if I do. And you let me know if you attempt this project yourself! I’m too chicken to try to do it with photos of people…but I may try a few more with some flowers later. Lord knows I have plenty of those type of photos lying around.
Love,
She Who Takes Too Many Photos Of Flowers

I really love the second photo. I vote for adding it to the Flickr group. You can say the blog made you do it.
I love these shots! Being an amateur photographer as well, I find myself putting down my own work too. Why do we do that? I don’t get it.
GREAT PHOTOS! I was looking at Pioneer Woman’s Photo Challenge pictures too and what amazing pictures they are….. and yours belong there too! they are good!
These are great! You shouldn’t be shy about posting them to the group! But, I’m always the same way: “I’m just messing around, I don’t know what I”m doing, etc….” It doesn’t help that my husband is a professional artist.
Really fantastic! I’m too lazy to do anything this ambitious with my photos.
You can claim not to be talented all you want, but remind yourself once in a while that there are some of us who can’t even work a point and click!
Add those photos! They are great!
Your photos are great! You should totally upload them to PDub’s flickr group! I especially love the first one. Prints of these photos would go perfect with my rustic country decor. =)
I LOVE them! I particularly love the second one, not because the first one isn’t awesome, but because I love the pink tones…would totally buy that if it were a print available! (and I had money…sigh)
sooo, I know nothing about cameras but want to start saving to purchase a nice one because I love photography. Have any recommendations? Would love any pointers as well
These look really good! I’ve never used textures either. It didn’t really even enter my head. I might try it!
