I’m still trying to learn enough about Photoshop to turn a basic candid snap into a frameworthy photo. I couldn’t live without PW’s Free Actions but one of her contributing writers sells some amazing batches of actions that I bought many moons ago when I still had a job. Every weekend I try to spend time tinkering and learning more about how they can help me and I’m always tickled pink with the results. I’m still very much an amateur but I’m just proud of how far I’ve come. I just kinda wanted to show off a bit. I hope you don’t mind. I just think the transformation in the above photo is so FUN. I mean, it’s great in the original format…but the one I tinkered with? I just love it. Maybe because it took me two days to do it (What? Actions are just clicks and shouldn’t take that long? Yeah. I like to make things difficult) but I just love that final product. I’m going to tattoo it on my forehead. JUST KIDDING.

And since I’m here tooting my own horn, I must also show you the results of my first ever photo session with someone not bound to loyalty based on genetics. I took pictures for Sarah’s family this weekend and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? Some of them turned out okay! I didn’t forget the memory card or leave the camera on B&W the whole time! I actually managed to get a couple of group shots with everyone looking at me! GO ME!

Of course, it helps that I know Sarah’s family – they aren’t strangers. But still…I’m very proud and am wondering if they would think it was weird if I put one of their family photos on my Christmas card this year?

You did a great job with the editing, and with Sarah’s pics. Like someone else suggested, maybe you can parlay this into a bit of income during your layoff! :)

Which action set did you get from MCP? I love them all, but haven’t gotten any because I can’t afford to “add all to cart.”
