Accentuate the Positive

There’s a law of physics…or a rule of biology…or a principle of chemistry…something wise and rule-ish that says something about matter not being created or destroyed. Do you know what I’m talking about? Well…that rule/law/comic strip thingy is the basis of a lot of my outlook on life. Hence why I know it by heart. And understand it completely. Or really why I just kinda grasp onto it lightly as a smart thing to reference when trying to explain... Read More

The Obligatory Thanksgiving Recipe Request

I’m cooking a Thanksgiving meal at my house this year. Not the Thanksgiving meal. Actually, not even on the Thanksgiving. LilZ spends Thanksgiving with his Dad this year, MrZ’s parents will be in Slidell and none of our siblings will be in town or if they are, they have other obligations. Basically, on Thanksgiving Day, it will just be MrZ, myself, AndyZ, NikkiZ, and at some point during the day my Mom will arrive. So – we’re just going to call it Thursday... Read More

Take A Lot Of Pictures Or The Puppy Gets Hurt

Typically, I take a lot of pictures. (I know! Shocking!) Last Christmas, my Dad and brother gave me a new lens for my camera giving me an excuse to be really obnoxious during their visit. They couldn’t complain, could they? I mean…they got me the lens…I had to try it out! And I did. Every waking moment of every day they were here. My Dad hates having his picture taken, and we know now that he was really sick over the holidays, but I have 14 billion pictures... Read More

Question For Bloggers As We Trudge Through National Blog Posting Month

I was watching Criminal Minds last week and they ended the episode with this quote from Cyril Connolly, “Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.” I’ve been thinking about that a lot. It seems a little extreme in terms of a basic Choice A v/s Choice B concept. But I’m sure we can all admit that the best situation is to write for the public and maintain your concept of self. I think that’s what... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
