Dear House, I Love You. Please Quit Picking On Me.

Nikki posed this picture last night as she felt a bit left out since I was taking so many pictures of the teenagers. Heh. LilZ has had one of his childhood friends in town visiting for two weeks now. She visits every summer and it’s like getting the Gang Back Together. Assuming, of course, that I’m part of that gang and they’re not typical teenagers wishing I’d quit annoying them with the walks down memory lane already! It’s been a great two weeks... Read More

Rewind.

Can we just pretend I didn’t write that last entry just yet? And let me start later? Because today? FROM HELL. Seriously. One of those days where I was on the verge of tears all day. I’ve been a bit emotional lately – - – more sensitive than usual, but today? Extremely sensitive. So the reshaping my outlook on life and food thing? Didn’t quite pan out. Let’s chalk this up to a monster-huge FAIL. Started the day out okay – cleaning out... Read More

Going Primal

All Hail Lifestyle Plans That Encourage Playing! When I started cooking and using Pioneer Woman as my guide, I thought for sure I’d gain a million pounds with all of that cheese and butter and nothing WHATSOEVER diet. You know what? Not an ounce. As I thought more about it I looked into the idea that if you eat a lot of diet foods (Over processed foods to remove calories or fat) – you do just that: You Eat A Lot Of Diet Foods. I don’t know why I hadn’t... Read More

My To-Do List Is Going To Eat My Brain

My birthday went well. I spent the morning with my son and his friends out at an outdoor mall where we ate lunch at PF Changs and played in the fountains a bit. I went out to dinner at Panera Bread with MrZ and made him see Eclipse with me. It was a very Zoot birthday. Nothing extravagant, but all of my favorite things in one day. Except for the part where AndyZ became possessed by demons and refused to nap causing his mood to spiral out of control making me leave him in timeout... Read More

Beyond Grateful.

This time last year I had a job – so I spent my birthday shopping for clothes for the first time ever. A few weeks later I got laid off. The End. ********** I have written and re-written this entry 100 times. Some of the drafts I got too wrapped up in missing my Dad. Other drafts focused too much on how the last year made me a Stay At Home Mom and how that is like having the best job in the world: Doing work I adore. But for the shittiest boss on the planet because no one... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
