My Personal Chef

We’re still alive, I promise! Still very busy unpacking and getting the old house ready to sell. LilZ’s childhood friend that comes to visit every summer is also here for two weeks so that adds it’s own element of very fun chaos to our lives. I just wanted to pop in and let you all know I have uploaded some more pictures to flickr – my favorite being this one above. Wes used to help me cook all the time at the old house and I love that this house hasn’t... Read More

Out Of The Box

Two Christmases ago (Or was it three?) I was at Pier One shopping and found these chimes that I thought these would be perfect for my sister-in-law. And because I tend to really dig her style, I bought a set for myself as well. Even though I had NO idea where to put them. Everytime I went to her house and saw them by her window I would think Hmm…I don’t know if I have as good of a place for mine. And they never got hung. Partly because I couldn’t really decide... Read More

An Assortment Of Photos To Break Up The Monotony of Unpacking

I am doing my best to unpack my office today. This is not going easily as I have no idea where everything should go. While we didn’t have an “office” in our old house, we spread out the “office” junk over plenty of space and now all of that has to be crammed into one 8 x 9 room. Yes. It’s seriously 8 x 9. It’s so small that when I stood on my desk and AGAINST THE WALL to hang a picture? The ceiling fan clipped the bun in my hair. Let me... Read More

My Favorite Room In Our New Home. (So Far.)

The dining room is the first room of the house I don’t mind calling DONE. There will eventually be things on the walls, but that will take awhile to decide on. There will be a few more pieces added to the china cabinet and probably something to the top of it. But for the most part? DONE. And I could not be more in love with it. From the table, which was my first real furniture purchase to the china cabinet which was Donnie’s doing. He saw a dresser in the same... Read More

This Is Why They Don’t Walk/Talk The First Year. You Need Time To Develop An Attachment So You Don’t Send Them To The Zoo.

I’ve never really believed in the whole “Terrible Twos” or “Torturous Threes” thing. I’ve always just said that there are bad phases between the time they learn to walk and the day they turn 4. Once they’re four, things get easier. That’s how it’s been for my family, anyway. And while it holds true with AndyZ, for the most part, I definitely understand why calling it “Terrible Twos” would help – because... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
