Idea Girl (Shiny!)

In the last 5-10 years I find that I’ve become – what I like to call – and idea girl. Every day ideas pop into my head: crafts, web sites, home decor projects, book plots..things I want to make, write and do. Sometimes, if it’s something easy, I’ll pursue the ideas. Other times, if it’s not so easy, and also not that awesome, they’ll just fizzle out in my mind. And other times they’re not easy, but still very awesome, and I spend... Read More

A New Definition Of Wonderful

Wes carried that piece of paper around with him all day yesterday. It was the weirdest thing. And everytime he went to “color” on it he grabbed one of the many super-dull pencils and wrote on it for minutes at a time, never actually making a mark because the pencil was so dull the lead wasn’t even poking out far enough to make marks. Then he’d fold it back up and carrying it around a little bit longer. He doesn’t usually do compulsive type things... Read More

The Teenage Me Would Be Sadly Disappointed

See…now I can post pictures like this and you all know that – while it’s a pretty picture of pretty things on my window – you can pan out a bit and see that the filth is just barely cropped out of the shot. I’ve been thinking a lot about my “Truth in Advertising” post and your reaction to it. It seems well all tend to believe that other bloggers of the world live these tidy, perfect lives. I wonder if this incorrect perception is partly... Read More

Truth In Advertising Part II

After the bonding over how rarely we wash our sheets, I thought I’d post a little more truth around here because it seems maybe we all are guilty of assuming everyone else in the blog world is cleaner/prettier/more productive/more fit than we are. I know every time I see Pioneer Woman’s picture of her kitchen I want to punch myself in the face. I documented once how messy my kitchen looked after a set of food-related projects, but I thought I’d show you what... Read More

My Own Worst Enemy. (Maybe Second To The Damn Cold Mornings.)

The comments on the last entry made me feel much better. NONE of you said more often than once-a-week. YAY! Most were in the every 2-3 week zone but some of you were like me in that you aim for every 2-3 weeks but it often gets pushed back to once-a-month because it always seems like there’s more important laundry waiting to be done. In case you’re wondering? I washed my sheets yesterday. Now…let’s talk about this boot camp. I signed up for it 2 months... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
