I (heart) bullets.
Get it? Because these are bullets about Valentine’s Day? I’m punny.
- We put pencils through those holes in the hearts you see in the picture above, and then they became the wrap-around for the goodie bags we did for the Valentine’s Day party. It’s not quite as awesome as I’d like to be, but now that I’m working again I haven’t mastered scheduling projects yet. I just didn’t start early enough. Because I started yesterday. Yep. Procrastination is my first, middle, and last name.
- I don’t mind Valentine’s Day because, like birthdays, Mother’s/Father’s Days, Christmas and Anniversaries – it forces me to stop and give recognition where it’s due. Yes, it may be cheesy and commercialized. But, I need something on the calendar to designate a day when I stop and give the people in my life the attention they deserve. Otherwise, I might get so caught up on my daily life that the important things like showing my family I love them, get lost.
- Do you get your kid’s things for Valentine’s Day? I do. This year? Sock Monkeys. Because sock monkeys are awesome and they already have 15 million stuffed bears. I finally framed a print for my husband that I bought him for Father’s Day a couple years ago and we’re also going to do something super-cool tonight I’ll have to tell you about tomorrow. It’s probably going to be more fun for me than for him, but come ON. I can’t be entirely selfless on Valentine’s Day. I have to show MYSELF some love too!
- I’m also starting back to boot camp this morning after a few days break. I signed up for the full year back in October which means each session is only, like $8. He only offered a few year spots and they went fast at that deal. But, he schedules week breaks between session, which I’m grateful for. Even though I got up at 4am even on my days off last week. Either way – I think it’s pretty awesome to start Valentine’s Day off with boot camp. In case there’s any chocolate in my future, it can be enjoyed guilt-free.
- Nikki and Wes think it is totally tragic that E doesn’t have a Valentine’s Day party at his school today. The thought that they will someday progress to a level of schooling that doesn’t value heart mailboxes and parties covered in pink – is horrible to them. They can’t believe this is their future and what they have to “look forward to” in their lives.
Tell me about it, kids.

I totally agree with you about Valentines Day, in that it’s silly and commercialized, but it’s still nice to have a reminder to love on the people you care about. I kind of want to throw a pink paper heart party all for myself now though heh. My mum actually got me a card and some chocolate hearts, and I had an old-school little fold-over Valentine from my little sister. Super sweet!
