My Very First Auction

Remember how I wrote about wishing I could buy a bunch of white plates in different styles and have those be my “nice” china pieces? How I thought it would be so pretty to see a variety of white plates on my dining room table? Do you remember that? Well, I gave up on the idea because, even at it’s cheapest, it would still cost well over $100, and at it’s most expensive, it could have cost up to $1000. Well…for $15 dollars I’m a bit closer... Read More

I bought this suitcase on a thrifting excursion. I’m not sure what I liked so much about it, but I had to have it. You can see a color shot of it here. If I traveled more, this would be my suitcase. Until then, I’m thinking it will serve as storage for our winter gear during non-winter months. (This is me anticipating non-winter months.)  Read More

Dark Side Of The Fridge

This is the side of our refridgerator. I forget it has so much cool stuff on it sometimes because it’s on the side I don’t always pay attention to. I was getting my recipe binder out the other day and thought: Oh! My fridge is awesome!. And now? I show it to you. The Harry Potter magnets are from Etsy. The comic is one my Dad sent me a million years ago because he knows how much Bambi (My cat) loves to give head butts. The picture of the cannibal babysitter is drawn... Read More

Mini Me

Jason Kottke wrote this great entry about turning over a camera to his child with an Eye-fi card in it that would automatically upload the pictures his child takes to a flickr account. I loved that idea. Nikki got a toddler camera from my brother and my Dad 2 years ago, but has felt very limited by it recently. She understands more about taking pictures, more of the potential, and felt very restricted by the camera for kids. My Mom gave me a visa gift card for Christmas so... Read More

Princess Butt Kicker

When we go to family dinner on Sundays at the in-laws’ house, Nikki always tries to sneak away to watch one of their “old movies.” This makes E feel very old. I told him, how do you think it makes me feel. Nikki is becoming quite the movie buff. Her favorite kind of movie is the Superhero Action Flick. We let her watch more movies than most people allow their child to watch, it’s the way my husband grew up and he doesn’t see a problem with it. And... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
