Because You All Come Here For The Home Decor Advice, Right?

Listen. I’m no Ab Chao. I’m not going to help you redesign your room in such a way that you suddenly start to have sexy dreams about it. (Seriously. Have you seen her kitchen? What about her garage?) BUT – when I do things I’m proud of I want to show them off. Because, as many of you recall, in our home my husband usually makes the design decisions. The times he’s let me decide (like the tragic kitchen light incident in the old house) we all end up... Read More

Because Adding Guilt To Stress Really Makes A Person A Much Better Parent

My kids have not been getting the best ME then deserve lately. The stresses of the upcoming Beauty and the Beast events have taken a tad bit of my patience away. And when I say “tad bit” I mean, “all.” I always feel bad about that while they’re sleeping. When they’re not begging me to turn on a movie or do a puzzle or get a snack. When they’re sleeping I suddenly think: You didn’t treat them very well today, Kim. None of this... Read More

How Wes Is Using His Cuteness Against Me

Wes: (Spontaneously from across the kitchen.) I love you, Momma. Me: I love you too, hon. Thank you for that. Wes: You’re my best friend. Me: Here are the keys to my car! And my wallet! Go have fun!  Read More

Coming Out From Behind My Embarrassment Pillow To Deliver A Message

I’ve been working on this entry so long, over so many years, that I can’t believe I’m actually publishing it now. I believe I started it when Britney Spears shaved her head. I guess I just decided something that I’ve been coming back to this often, just needs to just be published already. I even set it on auto-publish so that I would forget about it before it actually went live. It’s hard being me, sometimes. The brilliant and lovely Karen Walrond... Read More

Puzzle!

Wes’s new obsession is puzzles. He works on them all the time. He wakes up asking about puzzles. He goes to bed only AFTER he’s played with puzzles. Of course, many of the times he’s really just watching me do the puzzle, but he helps. And he LOVES it. When he’s about to have a tantrum about something? It’s the easiest form of distraction. “Wes, want to go do some puzzles?” “YEAH! Princess puzzles!” (One of the natural side... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
