Summer ‘To Do’ List

I know there have been various bloggers making their “To Do” lists for the summer, mainly involving things to do with their kids. I thought this was a great idea and made my own last week. As I’m slowly knocking things off the list, I thought I’d share it with you. (I crossed out the things I’ve already done.) This has been a great way for me to keep the summer exciting, even without a vacation planned.

Things To Do This Summer

  • Home-made popsicles
  • Draw chalk butterfly wings and photograph the kids “wearing” them.
  • Ice cream at Breusters
  • Swim at the Y
  • See a Huntsville Stars game.
  • Attend a library event.
  • Camp
  • Ride bikes on the Greenway.
  • Water Balloon Fight
  • Take a hike
  • Have a fire pit and cook hot dogs/s’mores
  • Play in the fountains
  • Go to a Zoo
  • Make friendship bracelets
  • Catch fireflies
  • Watch fireworks
  • Do Face Painting
  • Go to Krispy Kreme
  • Picnic
  • Go To Sonic
  • Outdoor Movie
  • Outdoor concert
  • Attend the beach bash
  • Go to a Farmer’s Market
  • Make a Red/White/Blue Cake
  • Do hairwraps
  • Stargazing
  • Wash the car
  • Go to Monte Sano Park
  • Attend an Art Walk
  • Go to the Art Museum
  • Make T-Shirts

Do you have a list? What’s on yours? I don’t mind adding stuff to mine by stealing stuff from yours!

Yikes, I posted a To Do list, but it was for ME. Bad Mom! Hmmmm, I’ll have to think about this and maybe come up with a list for my kids.

Oh I need to make a to-do list. I have never been to a Sonic, so I’ll definitely have to add that!

I saw this somewhere and I cannot, for the life of me, remember where, BUT I want do this with Evie this summer.

Also, we tried out the Crayola glow in the dark chalk last week and it’s awesome. I highly recommend it for some night time chalk outings. But heads up, you have to make the chalk and it takes like and hour so, you know, start making it earlier than dusk.

I like the Red White and Blue cake! I might have to do that too next month! I am inspired to make a list now.

Great idea!! I see a couple that I’m going to steal from you actually. One of my to-do’s is to get back to regular writing/blogging … this will be a great way to jump start that!

LOL I love that you have “go to Sonic” on your list. For us it’s just a given that if we are in town we go to Sonic (it’s 25 miles away) for a soft drink or slush. I’ve been taking my daughter to our weekly library reading program and 2 art classes a week. We’ve also gone to the free weekly movies, swimming, and she went to volleyball camp. Next week is VBS. I love finding stuff for her to do and keep busy.

I wish I had kept my lists from years past as a keepsake – even if we didn’t get to everything on the lists. Going to the Drive-In movie and going to a waterpark were always on the list.

  8. Danyelle says:

Ooh I like your face painting idea. Is there a certain paint you are supposed to use for that?

I made a list last week here http://bitoffruitcake.blogspot.com/2011/06/fruitcake-summer-fun.html

My favorite cake I make every year at July 4th is a jello cake. White cake then poke holes in it, pour red (liquid) jello over it. Add a layer of red pudding (I use strawberry flavor for everything but the flavors are easily interchanged for whatever tastes you want) then a layer of cool whip. Add blueberries and strawberries for a flag.

Ok, sure it’s not technically a red white and blue cake BUT I love it just the same.

If you are up for a road trip, you should check out the Memphis Zoo. It is the best zoo I’ve ever been to and I love it.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
