Things I’ve Talked About On Facebook And Twitter Lately

Taken by a stranger

Life has been so hectic I find that my friends on Twitter and Facebook are getting more updates than you guys are. So, here is a bulleted list of things I’ve talked about/linked to in other places to keep friends/family updated on our hectic lives.

  • I went to Knoxville this weekend for my Aunt’s 60th anniversary of becoming a nun. (Which means she’s 78. And she hiked the Chimney’s the day before. It’s obvious she’s my Dad’s sister.) I hung out with one friend from high school and two from elementary school while I was there. SO AWESOME. It’s like waking up a part of your past. I wish I had more time with them, and with their kids. Do you live in the town you grew up in? Does it seem as awesome to visit with old friends if you do it regularly?
  • Speaking of those friends, Dad would have LOVED hearing about their lives. He said the thing he hated most about us graduating high school was he lost touch with all of our friends too! He ate up any information I ever had when I visited with friends throughout the years. Now that I’m eyeballing the end of E’s school career, I see what he means. I’m friends with a lot of people through E! Thank God for Facebook!
  • Have you heard of the new YA Fiction Tempest? I pre-ordered it awhile back after EW did an article about it. Well, I just read the first four chapters and now I’m desperately hooked. IS IT JANUARY ALREADY? Related: If you haven’t read the I Am Number Four books yet, reading the second one Power of Six just made me wish I had waited until they were all out to pick them up. WHY DO BOOKS END IN CLIFFHANGERS? Bah.
  • I’m doing the Warrior Dash Saturday and I’m equal parts terrified and excited. It’s going to be SO MUCH FUN. But also…barbed wire? mud? fire pits? WHAT HAVE I GOTTEN MYSELF INTO?
  • I joined a half-marathon training class and for the first time ever, I’m doing routine “Speed Work” which is basically forcing your body to run closer to your Max for longer distances so that your Max starts to feel less of a Max and more of a Norm. There’s actual science behind it, but let’s not worry our pretty little heads over that. I didn’t take the speed play seriously because I’m not looking to get faster, just to be able to run the entire 13 miles. Well…I am getting faster! I ran 3 miles in 26 minutes yesterday. That’s almost a 5K which, when I ran one earlier this year I did it in 32 minutes 30 seconds. That’s a LOT faster! Who knew these coaches knew what they were talking about?!
  • Finally. Tonight there is something new on TV. I’ll be recording Buffy’s Ringer but I’m not really excited about it. I’ll be honest, SMG was my least favorite thing about the show Buffy. I’ll also be watching Parenthood tonight which means I’ll be crying because that show ALWAYS MAKES ME CRY. And then…my FAVE returns on Thursday: THE VAMPIRE DIARIES. OH, I’ve missed you so! Next week most of the other shows come back, but this is a great teaser week.
  • I’m still stress-eating! Guess what was on last night’s menu (after a full day of well crafted healthy meals): Cherry Garcia, Chips, and POPS. It’s a good thing I work out so much or I’d be worrying more about the endless weight gain instead of trying to lose that last 10lbs. *sigh*
  • I can not believe I just used the phrase, “…I work out so much…” Who am I? When did THAT become an accurate descriptor of me?
  • Edited to Add: POTTERMORE! I did finally get my welcome email. I’ve made it through all of the chapters, done spells, potions, earned house points, EVERYTHING! Now I just need to go back and earn my house more points. I’m loving it! If you’re in, I’m HOLLYSILVER18 – Add me!

I was stalking your Twitter account last night to see if you received your Pottermore email. I got mine yesterday and thought for sure you’d get one too! I spent an hour and a half on the site going through the first few chapters just so I could get my wand and get sorted–and I was at work! I finally abandoned the site when I was sorted into Slytherin. I’m going to have to make my peace with that before I go back ; )

Hope you get in soon. I want to hear what you think about it.

  2. Heather says:

Warrior Dash is amazing and you will have a great time (I did GA in May). Bootcamp will have given you more strength than I had going into it so it will just be a fun bit of time playing in the mud. If MrZ didn’t sign up for it but is cheering you on – make sure he brings his shoes with him – he’s going to want to steal your number and run in a heat when he sees the grin on your face (not that I saw anybody in GA do that or anything …. ahem).

Are you doing the half in Huntsville? My husband just signed up for the full there and I harbor secret hopes of my 3 year old meeting your 3 year old (which might mean that I could make eye contact with a real. live. blogger!!!)!

  3. Terri S. says:

Warrior Dash is SO fun!!!!! Enjoy! I did it in May in MD and had a blast. I cannot wait to do it again next May in MD.

  4. cagey says:

I am NOT ready for new Fall TV! I haven’t even done my research yet! I did look up this week’s stuff and so far, ABC’s Up All Night and CW’s The Secret Circle are getting okay reviews, so I’ll add them to the DVR

Most of the reviewers I read are giving this new season an overall “meh”. What have you read?

  5. Amber says:

Wait. Parenthood TONIGHT? I thought the premiere was this coming up Monday?? Do I have something to look forward to this evening??? (The progression of question marks should indicate my growing excitement!)

  6. duchessbelle says:

Yes! Sosososo excited for TV tonight. I was so mad when my DVR crashed last year and I lost the episodes I had recorded. Especially the last few seconds of the Thanksgiving ep when they are all dancing around the kitchen while cleaning. Between that and TVD, am about to kiss my TV. And Pottermore baffles me, I do not do well with the find hidden things, explore type of direction. I need logic and pattern :)

  7. Jessie says:

I just added you as a friend on Pottermore – SpiritPurple82. I’m having a lot of fun so far! I just got through the Sorting Hat – I’m a HufflePuff (and not suprised about that at all).

  8. Amber says:

GASP! Parenthood IS coming on tonight! Weird – if you google it, the top two returns show the premiere as Monday the 19th. When you click through it says the actual date. I am SO GLAD I read your blog today.

  9. Becca says:

I’m still waiting for my Pottermore welcome email! Gah!
Sidenote: my sister was sorted into Slytherin. Ha!

  10. Brenda says:

It makes me really happy that I also stalk you on Facebook and Twitter so I can keep up ;) I’ve really missed your daily blog posts the last few weeks but completely understand–my daughter started back to school, college started back for me, and I’m in a wedding this weekend. Life is hectic here too.
I’m sooo glad Parenthood starts back tonight. It’s one of the very few comedy-drama shows that I watch and I love it. Can’t wait to see what has happened since they jump 6 months into the future (I saw an interview with Lauren Graham and she was talking about it). On a side note–did you know Lauren Graham and Peter Krause are dating in real life? How odd to play brother and sister on TV and date in real life LOL!
Good luck on your Warrior Dash! My brother did one last year and loved it!

  11. Melissa says:

Pottermore STILL hasn’t welcomed me in.

    sigh

I heart Peter Krause. I’ve loved him since Sports Night.

  12. suzmckooz says:

I got my Pottermore, too! I played all weekend, and I am a Ravenclaw, too! I’m going to add you. I am Spellmoonstone23. Please accept me.

I am watching Ringer tonight with my 15 yo daughter. The one who I was able to get 1000% hooked on Buffy over the past couple/few years. (Yes, that does mean I had her watching Buffy when it was thoroughly inappropriate for her to do be doing so …. even worse when you think her younger sister was right alongside us ….)

  13. Marlene says:

Parenthood!! Woohoo! So excited. As is my 16 year old daughter. She loves it as much as I do!
And, still no welcome letter for me for Pottermore, but my baby girl got hers yesterday, on her 10th birthday no less! awesomeness. She’s even reconciled herself to being sorted into Slytherin. “All of the houses have had dark wizards, mommy. They just don’t like to talk about it!”

  14. Shawna says:

Love the bulleted update! I follow you on Twitter but it`s so much more satisfying to have everything in one post. :)

Cute, cute pic of you and the kids!

  15. G.G.R says:

My parents in law did the Warrior Dash when me and my husband were visiting them in America this summer. They came home splattered in mud with giant furry viking hats, medals, t shirts and two huuuuge smiles on their faces. They said there were so many people there that they never got to any moving speeds that made them all that tired, but jesus, mary and joseph were they just HAPPY about going.

  16. Tracy says:

Crap, crap, crap, how did I not know Parenthood already started? Maybe my DVR remembered I taped it last season? I’ll just hope it’s waiting on my DVR tonight…

We have a nun in my family too. My Mom’s first cousin. We celebrated her 50th Jubilee two years ago.

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
