Decorating.

For several months there was NOTHING on E’s walls in our new house. And then, for Christmas he received a few things for his room (One you see in the picture is this ‘Alice’ poster designed entirely with text from the story.) that we hung up at the beginning of the year. But until this summer? Those things were the only items gracing his walls. This summer gave E some free time at home and he spent the every second of it cutting out things from magazines,... Read More

Things I’ve Talked About On Facebook And Twitter Lately

Life has been so hectic I find that my friends on Twitter and Facebook are getting more updates than you guys are. So, here is a bulleted list of things I’ve talked about/linked to in other places to keep friends/family updated on our hectic lives. I went to Knoxville this weekend for my Aunt’s 60th anniversary of becoming a nun. (Which means she’s 78. And she hiked the Chimney’s the day before. It’s obvious she’s my Dad’s sister.)... Read More

Like Father Like…Nope. Nevermind.

I’ve had a weird 36-hour fever that has no other symptoms than just an incredible feeling of blaaargh. (That’s a medical term. Look it up.) Every time I’m sick I think of my Dad. He wasn’t a poster-board Dad for your typical Parenting Magazine things, but when it came for caregiving when I was sick? He was Dr. Mom. He spared no ounce of sympathy and pampering. Granted, I didn’t get sick often, but when I did? He was AWESOME. I was plagued with... Read More

The Magical Age

I have been so busy lately I’ve not done any photo taking of the kids. Not while they’re eating lunch, and not on specific Trying To Get Fun Photos type of outings. Nothing. This makes me feel a little crazy, so I made a point this weekend to set aside time for a Photo Outing. Nikki dressed herself (of course) with me just telling her to wear a hat because I was trying to do some different photos than I usually do. I put Wes in something decent (with a hat) and we... Read More

In Lieu Of A Baby Book

Wes has done a couple of baby-book-worthy things lately. Except, you know, I don’t keep a baby book. I keep a BLARG. And while I fear that some of these things will have to be deleted when he gets old enough to surf the archives, that doesn’t mean we can’t all laugh at them in the meantime, AM I RIGHT? ************ Wes was pretending to have a sword fight in the kitchen the other day. He’s totally obsessed with Power Ranger: Samurai lately, so we do... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
