Zoot’s Video Commentary

I’m going to show you some videos and let you know why I’m totally obsessing over them.

First off? Tomorrow’s Glee mash-up video that shows my favorite: Santana, singing some Adele with Mercedes. What makes this video even more powerful is knowing a bit of Santana’s story from the episode. If it goes like the rumors say, it will be pretty powerful and makes her performance even that much more awesome.

Second – The Hunger Games trailer. I wasn’t entirely sold on Jennifer Lawrence for Katniss until I saw the clip on this trailer where she screams to be a volunteer, taking her sister’s place in the reaping. I’ve seen the trailer 15+ times now and I’ve sobbed during that part every time. While I still think she looks too old, she sold that moment and I’m on her side now.

Lastly? Team Starkid on SPACEtour. Of course Darren Criss isn’t going to sing his songs in any of the venues outside of NYC, but hearing Dylan Saunders sing this song from A Very Potter Sequel is amazing. This is the song Harry sings about finally finding a home at Hogwarts. It’s a beautiful song in a silly show, but hearing Dylan sing it? Makes it stand entirely on it’s own. I can’t wait to see it in person.

OMG HUNGER GAMES I CAN’T WAIT WHY ISN’T IT MARCH??????

Sorry. That trailer makes me all weird. Katniss is OK to me, I always felt she was a little bit older and more mature, so she doesn’t really look out of place to me.

And having read the whole series, knowing everything that happens, how much more does the part where she volunteers kill you?

I have watched the Hunger Games trailer so many times! It’s going to be amazing. March can’t get here fast enough!

I have been very unhappy with the casting of the Hunger Games but that trailer makes me feel so much better. With everyone but Haymitch. And then some of it was filmed near my home, so it looks so familiar. I just may have to break down and go see it now!

I am resisting all the Glee videos. I watched some when the season first started up this year, but then when I watched the episode I felt cheated because I knew what songs were coming up and had seen some of the videos. It took the thrill out for me….so I stopped and now just wait in anticipation until it airs. Of course tonight I was silly and made dinner plans with friends so now I won’t get to watch until I get home…which may not be until after midnight. *sigh*

Glee – that’s epic once i see the episode though it might make more sense – I like the kinda jazzed up version of Someone Like You.

THG – OMGOSH i am so excited for the film. My “lil sis” started reading book 1 last night after me and her best friend pestered her lol.

Thanks for pointing me to the Hunger Games trailer. I read and liked the books, but somehow the movie is much more… visceral, maybe? I had a much more emotional reaction to these scenes in the trailer than in the book — especially the one you mentioned, where Katniss volunteers. I teared up, too. :) I wasn’t particularly excited for the movie before, much as I like Jennifer Lawrence, but now I’m definitely looking forward to it!

so, i’m downloading the glee episode as we speak, but i’ve watched that video about 10x in the last 15 minutes. SO GOOD! i was going to post it on facebook, and say something like “OMG SANTANA! if britney doesn’t want to go lesbian for her, I WILL!” but then i remembered that i’m fb friends with my VERY young nieces, and i thought their dad might get mad at me. :(
anyway, i’ve gotta go watch the video again…

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
