My Runner’s Brain

I think about a lot of things as a runner that I never thought about before. Basically, there are a lot of VERY IMPORTANT THINGS in my life as a runner that I never considered important before. Race Day Nutrition. And not in the “Eat Healthy” sense, but in the “What do I eat at mile 5 to get me through to mile 13?” sense. Everyone has a different method or system that works for them. And theirs probably won’t work for me. I’ve found a decent... Read More

Brain. Fried. Send. Donuts.

This week is going to be INSANE. We have a huge party at our house on Friday night and our Half-Marathon on Saturday. Every spare minute of my week (I have TWO meetings tonight. TWO.) will go to prep for the race or the party. Therefore, my brain is already frazzled so I’m going to play the Bullet Post Blog Entry Card for an easy escape this Monday morning. But let me reiterate – MY BRAIN IS FRIED. I can not be held responsible for logic errors or misspelling within... Read More

I’m Not Even Over-Dosing On Pumpkin Spice Lattes This Year!

Sundry mentioned Honeycrisp apples on Twitter the other day and I just wanted to proclaim my love to the world: I LOVE HONEYCRISP APPLES. When they show up on the shelves in the fall, my life just falls into place. At least for those 3 seconds in the produce section of the grocery story. But I love TONS of things about autumn. I love pumpkin flavored everything: Beer, cream cheese, coffee creamer, MUFFINS…I love it all and you can find it EVERYWHERE right now. It’s... Read More

Mmmm…Shredded Cheese…

We have a BIG EVENT in the theater department tonight. It’s a performance and a BBQ dinner and I’ve been stressing about this for about a week. Not that there’s really much for me to do before today, but that doesn’t stop me from stressing. And we all know what Kim does when she’s stressed, right? EATS EVERYTHING EVEN REMOTELY EDIBLE. I hate this because the last thing I need 9 days out from my half-marathon is to put on 5lbs of stress weight. Yet... Read More

Letting The Kids Cook Pastries!

So, guess what? I’m writing somewhere else for a little while. Just about cooking with my kids, mainly breakfast type meals. I’m going to be writing over there for 8 weeks or so, I hope you’ll come by and visit me! My first article is about the kids cooking breakfast pastries. One easy idea that I use for Saturday breakfast is Individual Crescents. The kids have become experts in the Rolling Of The Crescents along the way – it’s one of their favorite... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
