Revisiting BlogHer

One of the many brilliant women I encountered in Chicago was Keri Smith. Although, it wasn’t a planned encounter. Not someone I planned on meeting or being inspired by. See, I was really torn over two sessions being held at the same time. There was the Moms-Who-Blog panel which was being run by women I read daily. I’m a Mom. Who blogs. This was a panel for me. But another... Read More

Not the recap. Just a rant. — BlogHer 2007

I haven’t actually done my final BlogHer Recap post because I’m still trying to find time to sit down and write something about all of the wonderful women I met and how I truly hope they won’t hold my crappy attitude against me because I was suffering from my post-miscarriage period which NEVER WANTED TO END. Like having a miscarriage (or four…) isn’t... Read More

I’m like the troll under the bridge…but waaay cuter.

I’m taking a break this session because I’ve got a serious case of the damn cramps which is depressing on so many levels. I don’t know if cramping gets worse as endometriosis gets worse, but I’m starting to believe so based on my experience. Of course, it’s also my first period after my miscarriage and they always seem worse. I don’t know if they... Read More

Sometimes, I’m very slow.

You know what I love about BlogHer? It’s the phenomena of being surrounded by people WAAAAAY freakin’ smarter than me and what it does to my brain. It makes my brain hurt because it takes a lot of effort to pretend like you’re smart. That’s why you won’t see me ask a question in a session, because I’m afraid the spotlight will reveal the man behind... Read More

Liveblogging Session I

I’m in the room listening to a panel about personal blogging and blogging “naked” – most everyone attending writes personal blogs. I’m going to liveblog this for those of you who would normally be here with me and hate to be missing out. On the panel: AAG (I’ve not been to this site, but it stands for “Always Aroused Girl” –... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
