The Cookies That Can Not Be Named

featured_cookies

My husband was craving cookies one night. He looked up a recipe online for chocolate-chip cookies and modified it to fit what we had in the cupboard. Basically – he just added some white-chocolate chips where we didn’t have enough milk-chocolate chips. What resulted was BRILLIANCE. Here is the key: No one in my home had ever made homemade cookies before. Anyone who... Read More

Buffalo Chicken Dip

buffalodip

This is my token football game dip. My family loves it because we’re a big fan of buffalo wings – making this dip FANTASTIC for us. It goes fast when I’m around, so if you’re inviting me to your party? I wouldn’t let me near this stuff. INGREDIENTS * 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened * 1/2 cup blue cheese salad dressing * 1/2 cup Frank’s®... Read More

Andreanna’s Beer Chicken

beerchicken

The original recipe for the Beer Chicken I have come to love came from a site that has since moved. The moved recipe is here. The writer, Andreanna, now writes at a splendid new site that you should be following. Especially if you have gluten sensitivities or if you have a primal diet. HOWEVER – I have neither issue and I love just about every recipe of hers I try. So you... Read More

OMG…Spicy Saltines aka Firecrackers

saltines1

My friend Karen brings Spicy Saltines to gatherings sometimes and I tend to hover around the container eating them until I either (A) Throw up or (B) Run out. I love them so much I have found myself often dreaming about them. THIS IS NOT A LIE. I finally looked up a few recipes recently as I’m sick of just waiting until the next time I see Karen and hoping she’ll bring... Read More

Noshings Pumpkin Spice Scones

scones

Yes. I KNOW. More pumpkin. I’m sorry. I made this on Christmas Eve, my first time EVER making scones of ANY sort. They tasted great, but there were ugly as sin. I think it will take a few more batches before I get the whole Scone Making process down pat. The original recipe is here. I’m not sure what etiquette is in the world of foodie bloggers. Can I post the recipe... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my website where I've been writing since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot - a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I have taken up long distance running as a hobby and chronicle that journey a lot here. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
