My Middle Name Is Not Grace

Many moons ago, when LilZ was playing soccer (and hating every minute of it) MrZ had to have a talk with me. He informed me that he didn’t think it was a good idea that I constantly joke about LilZ inheriting his clumsiness or lack of grace from me. “He may have gotten that from you, but you might remove any possibility that he overcome that if you keep joking about... Read More

She still makes the “B” sound instead of the “V” sound…

She starts dance class today. It’s just a week-long introduction to see if she likes it. (Everyone in our family says simultaneously: Oh, She’ll like it.) I didn’t want to sign her up for anything for next year until I let her test it out a bit. Just in case her predilection for dancing doesn’t carry over to formal instruction. Unfortunately, classes like... Read More

All The Single Ladies…

LilZ has been experimenting with PW Actions. This is the “Seventies” – It’s cute. I’m a single Mom for a few days this week as MrZ is in California on business. This rarely (if ever?) happens because he doesn’t do a lot of traveling with his job. I have several friends whose husbands do go out of town a lot and they are better women then I... Read More

The Secret

I was recently telling someone that one of the best things about MrZ and I as a couple, is that we have a few things in common that we didn’t know about at first. And while we didn’t look for those common grounds before we were living together, they have proved to be quite important and I often wonder what happens to couples who find they don’t share the same viewpoints... Read More

Daddy’s Little Girl

Last night, NikkiZ and I were hanging out in her bedroom. She asked me if I wanted to, “Blast some bad guys.” This is a phrase that MrZ uses when he says he’s going to play video games. He’ll tell her, “Daddy’s gonna blast some bad guys.” So, of course, I was intrigued with her offer. I said, “How?” She doesn’t have a TV... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
