Birds! With Swirly Wings!

If you live in the Huntsville area, might I suggest you attend a Spirited Art class? You pay $35 dollars and no matter how little natural ability you have (Trust me. I have NONE.) you walk away with a painting that YOU painted. And you will love it because it will be awesome because YOU DID IT. I needed this tonight more than ANYTHING right now, I believe. A night NOT being a... Read More

Exactly Why This Is Not A Craft Blog

I decided to try my hand (again) at making some hair clips for NikkiZ. I bought this really cute Princess ribbon on clearance and made this gem first. Do you think it’s big enough? Bah. Not only is it WAAAY too big for her head but it’s also too big for the clip I put it on so it didn’t stay in hardly at all. And it’s also all crooked too. You’ll... Read More

If At First You Don’t Succeed…

This photo is of the carnage after my several failed attempts at personalizing Christmas ornaments for my kids’ teachers. My goals was to spend $25 on all 5 Teacher’s gifts. In the end? It was just barely under that if you politely choose to ignore all of my cost of FAILED ATTEMPTS. So, mission was kinda accomplished? If you have selective documentation? I have always... Read More

The One Where I Blatantly Steal Your Ideas

Okay. So – with an unpaid maternity leave this year – we will be a little tighter at Christmas than we normally are. I’ve been trying to search for some awesome gift ideas that we can make ourselves, me and the kids. I’ve found several good ideas but I thought I’d ask you all if you’ve ever done similar projects. You have to keep in mind the most... Read More

Some-sing Sun!

Thank you so much for your input here. I’m going to write more about this tomorrow after I ponder a lot of the wise things you all said. You always amaze me to be so spot on in so many ways. I already feel better about it. To get NikkiZ to tolerate the idea of going to school all day instead of being home with me, I started out promising her that we’d do fun things after... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
