You offered me much more than your umbrella.

Several months ago I had an incident at Target where a woman was openly hostile and rude to me when I dared cross her path with my cart and two kids. Since my nature is to immediately feel awful for anything that upsets someone else – and it was so obviously I upset her as she snottily exclaimed, “Jeezus. Just cut me off why don’t you and don’t even apologize”... Read More

Making Time, Not Excuses.

I haven’t talked a lot about starting the chain reaction of awesome in my life, lately. While I was thinking about that this morning I noticed: I have a lot of “selp-improvement” type categories listed here. I think that observation says a lot right there, don’t you think? Like, maybe there’s a part of me hoping if I give it a category on my blog... Read More

Old Dog, New Tricks.

These next few weeks in the Zoot Household are going to be awesomely insane. LilZ’s Musical is entering it’s final weeks of rehearsals and then an insane week of production. (If you live here…PLEASE COME SEE IT…It’s going to be amazing. Seussical the Musical. It just sounds awesome, doesn’t it? Buy tickets here.) There will be things going on... Read More

Because If You Doodle It…It’s True. Right?

In an effort to start the chain reaction of awesome, I thought I’d start a project. I printed up a bunch of sheets with statements on them that I really want to be true. My goal is to fill those pages with things that will make them true. Maybe rules to live by, maybe steps to get there, but things that can bring that particular statement into reality. I thought I’d... Read More

The Chain Reaction of AWESOME starts with ME.

I have a friend who has recently become a client of Carrie at Get Your Bliss and is currently – for lack of a better term – working on her life’s mission statement. It has been truly fascinating listening to her talk about the process and the questions you work through when you’re working to focus your life. If I lived in Phoenix? I would be living on Carrie’s... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
