And Then Chaos Ensued…

During my travels to Chicago this week…my Dad got hospitalized with possible kidney failure. Turns out there are all sorts of other symptoms as well and they’ve decided to biopsy his kidney this morning to try to figure out what is going on. My brother is already there and I’ll be heading up tonight. Let’s just say I’m a wee bit frazzled right now.... Read More

Now For The Holiday Detox

I just finished five of the most awesome days I’ve ever had. I spent the entire time with loads of family and yummy food. We had two full-blown Christmas mornings, doubling the fun for everyone. We watched movies (Dr. Horrible anyone?) and built towers and rode scooters. Since my brother was visiting the majority of the five days had me laughing so hard my stomach hurt every... Read More

Recovery.

On July 22nd of this year, my Mom celebrated five years having quit smoking. I refer to that day as the day she almost died. (If you’ve never read that entry, please do. It’s one of the ones I’m proudest of.) That day and the months that followed have been on my mind a lot since Senator Johnson made his first public appearance after his aneurysm in December. Although... Read More

Happy Father’s Day

Dear Dad, Please don’t ground me for posting this picture I want to say “Happy Fathers Day!” to the two Dads in my life. First? To the man pictured above: My Dad. The older I get, the more of him I see in me. This is both good (see: love of maps, enjoyment of the outdoors, and dedicated parenting) and bad (see: the need to pick up every “pretty” rock... Read More

A girl not afraid of my KRAZEE family

Zoot and her little brother who dresses a lot better now. My brother and I are very close. We always have been. Even when we were trying to kill each other. I spent many years of my life beating him senseless. It’s a good thing he outgrew me early on, or he may have never made it to adulthood. As adults, we are very good friends. My brother is a huge motivation for this... Read More

Hi. I’m Kim.

This is my blog that I've been writing on since January, 2004. I call myself Zoot as it's a derivative of an old childhood nickname. I used to write about my struggles to have children, but eventually I succeeded and now, I write a lot about those kids. I don't use my kid's exact names simply because if someone Googles their very unique names in the future, I don't want them stumbling upon my entries about boobsweat. I mean, would you hire someone whose Mom writes openly about such topics? NO. YOU WOULD NOT.

I love taking pictures and carry my camera (almost) everywhere I go. This means you'll see a lot of photos on this site. I also periodically post recipes I like as I've been slowly (but surely) learning to cook and I like to share my discoveries. Finally? I'm an annoying pop culture fanatic so I'll periodically ramble about Hunger Games or the latest Parks and Recreation.

I hope you like it here. If not? Please don't tell me. I cry easily.
